I've found their site that explains their taxes, quite an interesting city Dubai is.

You need to think of it as more of a cruise than a city to understand their economy, yeah that ticket is cheap (No income tax and such) but once you are there oh boy everything is owned by the same people so they're free to do and charge whatever they please for real estate since they're the ones that both own the country and built the image of Dubai. Their business model (yes, i call it that because it's more of a product than a city) is genius and seems like it's working for them if you ignore the infrastructure and how they treat their migrant workers. Oh, and also if you don't know anything about the workers and have a short fuse i suggest not researching it.

 

I get we were supposed to be talking about the UAE as a whole but c'mon Abu Dhabi and Dubai is the only attractions if you aren't into fossil fuels.

Real life story.

The phone on the frat wall would ring, and a freshman pledge would answer, "Beta Chapter, Phi Sigma Kappa, Pledge Pit speaking, how can I help you?"

(Sultry woman's voice) "Hi, this is Debbie, I'll be over in half an hour, so get ready for a good time, I'll come find you, Pit."

Pledge to himself holy crap, out loud, "I'll be waiting." And he didn't have to wait long.

One week later, Pledge Pit is off to the school infirmary, "Geez doc, I dunno what I did, but it really hurts to pee, can ya help me?"

Doc, "Well son, I guess you've just learned "Free love" ain't always free. AND NEXT TIME USE A CONDOM."

Upon his return to the frat, after telling his tale Pledge Pit gets asked, "Didn't one of your brothers warn you about 'Debbie the Death'?"

Hilarious, right? Free, not so much.
