So difficult to find a good Mondial reading these days. Particularly interesting for prospective buyers.

The more I read and learn about the Mondial, the more I fall in love with it. My 355 is way more powerful and modern, but no car can take the Mondial's place in my heart. It was my very first Ferrari and you never forget your first love!

Bill: I think prices will be stable for at least 5-10 years I expect real price appreciation in the 2020-30 timeframe ... I sort of see it as a fine wine in a cellar that time has not come yet...

perhaps just me, but I have a difficult time finding the T has the same purchase value as the older Mondial. Granted the servicing is more expensive, but the prices do not seem the same to me. Interesting that the reason is the ease of service IMO.

It really cracks me up ... the amount of focus trained on "the extra cost of an engine out service for a T". My God, the T has features that make the $1,600 R&R difference in the major service cost, seem like peanuts - at least, to me. Doing my math, it worked out to "the most bang for the buck"!!!!

Couldn't agree more. I believe the difference at the end of the day between one Ferrari that doesn't require an engine out major and one that does is relevant enough for a person to run away imho. Especially when talking about the Mondial T, which isn't that complex when compared to more modern Ferraris, in terms of electronics and technology.

I think a lot of the issues are fear. Engine out sounds exotic. When I was younger the idea of pulling an engine out was insurmountable. I would not have purchased a t when I made my purchase because at the time I did not have access to a lift and I did not have the funds to have it done. It was a huge leap of hope for me to dream that I could own this car and keep it running. It's been a great car. However if anyone had told me how much money I'd have put into it I'd never have purchased it. But today I don't have a single regret. Worth every penny. They are exotic cars and not for everyone. Probably not for me, but as I'd said I'm going to enjoy the heck out of it before the car gods figure out that there is imbalance in the universe And I think I have to add the caveat, on the money I've put in, that I have not done the bare minimum. I've purchased some very expensive parts that were not immediately necessary, but I wanted to drive this car cross country without a failure, and I did, so it was all worth it. It truly is a wonderful automobile.

Today I'd have no qualms about purchasing a t, 348 or any engine out service car. The only downside I can see is that it would be a bummer if the water pump started to leak between services, but again, that's only fear. Now that I've pulled my rear subframe out they are basically the same car.

 

And one of these days I'll go back to the thread. I think the pictures were mostly back end as I was having computer problems.

I'm now living vicariously through my past actions I can't believe that was already a few years ago. And now the car is very much in pieces. But it will go again!

 

ya' loooved bragging how I got my engine out and then stunned the crowd [or any sorry listener I could drag into my 'glee'] on the cost of a tuneup...ya', I do miss those days

after the fourth one, I realized.....not so enamored anymore on the engine out. However, wife and I saw that beautiful blue/tan Valeo cabriolet yesterday for $36k and, well, guess we have NOT learned....kind of like child birthing....after the pain and two weeks later it's like 'why not again'.....
