I used to subscribe to Forza a couple years ago and stopped. A couple months ago I renewed my script and have been really disappointed. The mag used to be about 90 pages, now it's 60-ish on glossy paper.
And I was reading a "market update" and it was the exact same as 5 years ago. In fact it said "the newest of these cars is 30 years old), but NOW the newest of the cars is 40 years old. They haven't even updated their market updates at all. Just a little change in price.
It seems like less magazine than it used to be.
    OK, I'm done. Thanks...

I couldn't agree more. Every issue gets lamer and lamer....reminds of what happened to the original skiing mags ("Ski" & "Skiing") --- used to be exciting, intelligent, and informative......now just 50 some pages of advertisements, sponser-bought pandering, and general BS :( Forza is heading straight down the same drain, IMO.

My last 3 year subscription ended this year, i did not feel inspired to renew it my self.
Only one or two new things worth reading, the rest of it the usual same old reprints. I to found it disapointing, usualy after less than 30 seconds of scanning through.

Most of these mags are probably barely surviving. Unless you're looking for something to take to the john what's the point?

Maybe because they chose to sell out and suck --- and loyal readers actually recognized that?!

I canceled my subscription to Forza a few years ago.......but, I confess I still trudge over to Barnes & Noble (we don't have any newsstands in this dearth of commerce) every 1.5 months to pick up the new one ---- mostly because it gives me a chance to have a cup of coffee at the in-store Starbucks and flirt with waitresses :)

I still suscribe. But most enthusiast magazines are like this, they only have so many years. I suscribe to a few other magazines and they to tend to become repetitive as well. I guess they must have somewhat of a turn over as new people get interested.

My subscription is running out, and I'm not renewing.

It has become a boring, thin, repetitious magazine. That also is for the most part not very well written.

Which is too bad. The mkt is still there, and there are plenty of interesting cars and subjects to write about. it just seems they aren't paying much attention. They need a new editor or something.

They should pay attention to their sister publication, "excellence" magazine (same as Forza, but Porsche related). It is much better, better content, writing, not as repetitious, etc.

I just renewed again for 24 more issues. I have issue #1 Through#106, why quit now. I'm going to end up on the "Hoarders" show.

I was disappointed that the article about the Ferrari Superfast and the Maserati 5000 GT was an almost verbatim rehash of an article that appeared a month earlier in one of the Brit car mags. You would think they would at least have exclusive material rather than run an article someone else already ran.

Once upon a time Forza was bi-monthly like Cavallino. Then they started publishing monthly so maybe there is some repetition but it's the format of the magazine covering similar stories regularly. What about the guy that get his Ferrari featured in an issue of Forza; at least they have one happy reader each month. Print magazines are becoming a scarce resource.

You would be more happy if there was only 'Car & Driver' to read?

I would be more than happy to buy a bi monthly edition of forza, if the edition was a better read than what it is right now
I gave it a 7 year chance, and by the sounds of it so have many others.
If your happy with the service then thats good for you. Swings and roundabouts as the saying goes:)

I subscribed for a year while I was searching for my first car. I didn't renew. It takes about 10 minutes to look through it and it simply isn't worth it. Like some others, I will check it out at Barnes & Nobles if I'm there.

I've rubbish-binned C&D once they declared the 911 Turbo best exotic because it has back seats and dynamometer fuel efficiency.

As mentionned in another thread they were faster to cash my renewal than answer my letter to the editor (which they didn't).

I had been on the fence about subscribing - I will usually pick up about 2 issues a year at the aforementioned B&N if the particular issue has a main feature that I am really interested in....I thought about pulling the trigger but decided to pass. Not enough content of value.

Agreed. Although I'd say the content has been fluff for quite a while.

What they should have done is consulted with OMGJon, for example, and done a series on his Dino restoration. Or with Bobileff on the Daytona restoration. Or a long term 'road test' on a 308 or 355, no punches pulled -- what's it like to live with, maintain, etc.

There is great content out there related to Ferraris, and Forza has a knack for not finding it. Instead, every time Ferrari introduces something like deviating color stitching on the seat belts, they gush over it like it's news.

Forza is terrible. The writting/story is completely forgettable. The pictures are so-so. And the news are usually 2/3 months old if not more.

The only thing i enjoy is when they test/show a particular car that was updated/modified/restored by its owner. Other than that, the tests of the current cars are always the same blablabla.

I still buy it because it's not expensive but every time im done reading an issue, it makes me want to come rant on here about it :)

The editor of Forza is a friend. If you have any ideas on what you would like to see in the magazine or topics you would like to see covered lets hear it. I am going to be either seeing or talking to him next week and I promise I will pass it on.

Nows your chance. Lets hear it.

I have been getting FORZA from the time it came out and have almost every issue as well. Although it has had its ups and downs, I still look forward to it. Too bad Sports Car Int'l the sister publication went out of business, because they did a good job.

You want to speak about the death of high quality magazines, just take a look at Road & Track and Car & Driver Mags from the 70's, 80's, and 90's compared to now. Terrible just terrible. Really the best Magazine out there is EVO.

I am like you... all the issues but more hoarding than collecting.
There was one stage around 2006 that it included Maserati.. wonder what happened there. Anyone know?

The magazine is getting very weak.

BRING BACK THE "SHOP TALK" SECTION !!!!!!!

I don't advocate work being taken away from professional mechanics trying to earn a living by having "secrets" revealed to the masses........but, surely there can be a delicate balance there somewhere?

Those old articles were wonderful to read ---- most of us are never going attempt most of that work, anyway ---- but, it really is fascinating and educational to see :)

Also, I appreciate where Forza's "bread is buttered", but perhaps they can back off a bit on the egregious and sycophantic mouth-piecing for Ferrari, SpA ??? A little more objectivity would nice ----- we all know that NOT everything that comes out of Maranello's gates is "perfect", and the best thing Ferrari ever let loose :p........they do have flaws and serious glitches, just like most other cars.

There is a line between being an "enthusiast" of a marque, and being a "salesman / PR rep" for a marque ;).

How exactly would you like to see that covered? Q+A ? Step by step of a job?

    Be a little more specific.

Also very late model, mid years (348 , TR etc.) or vintage?

I thought the old format was ideal ---- just duplicating it again would be great. Personally, I love to see a lot of pictures!!! I mean, where else am I gonna have the opportunity to see what the inside of Boxer's gearbox looks like?! :)

I'll let others cast their votes on that. I'm guessing (just by observing here on F-chat) that there would be a lot of popular interest in the 355 & 360 series cars and maybe the 550 / 575, as well....many, many of those models in our garages these days.....

As for me, I like to see what's inside all (any) of them, myself ---- it's all good to me :)
