I'm looking forward to the Volvo 850 R. I have a real 2006 Volvo V70R and it's a lot of fun. Not like my 355, but a great sleeper car that can be surprisingly fast, agile, and Brembo-brake stoppable.
Has anyone gone after NASCAR driver Juan Pablo Montoya's Rival time? He ran a stock ZR-1 at the Indy circuit. Pretty respectable time with a harder than normal driving car. I beat it following a buddies fast ghost time.
JPM's time was 1:32:177 Took me about four sessions but I finally beat him with 1:32:036 I just kept trying to beat the ghosts a few spots ahead of me until I got within JPMs time and then I chased his ghost. Pretty hard Rivals challenge and it felt rewarding to finally beat him. Mush better than the Rampage Jackson KOTT last month As far as I know, there has been nothing official said about future DLC after the Porsche one. My feeling ( hope ) is they will release two more after the Porsche and one will include some tracks.
I ended up running a 1:31.243 after 10 laps or so. I can shave another half second I think.y buddy bested the time I beat him with so it's on once again!
For ZR1 challenge I noticed after my first try I was 4seconds off and absolutely sucked with the ZR1 so I didn't try again. I don't really care for a LP640 anyways so I'm fine with my loss.
Im just under 1sec off the time. The problem for me is being consistent, I nail the 1st 2 corners then stuff it up somewhere else. I have tried various ghosts and funny enough the slower ghosts make me quicker... haha... Wish I had a wheel 4REphotographer: LOL nice one
Here's a few things that helped me shave time off that might be worth giving a try if you haven't already. I never use the driving line but used it for this rival because it was so hard to spot the first turn. It helped a lot. Getting into 5th gear before the last turn got me to a higher top end going down the front straight on my flying lap and I was beating all my ghosts to the first turn right up to JPM. I was always afraid of getting a dirty lap so I stayed on track but once I figured out just how much I could cut the corners it helped a lot on my time especially those last four turns before heading onto the bank and into the last turn. Being able to cut the corner allowed for a different driving line with a greater exit speed and that saved valuable time as well. Even though some of the fastest guys on the leader board use a controller, I can't very well. I tried to beat the time on my Sister's console with a controller and couldn't get with 10 sec of JPM. Having a wheel helps a lot in my case plus its just more fun. Here's a couple shots of my rig I built. Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
I decided to go after lvl 150 instead and made a few $$$ in the process. Was able to buy some more Ferraris I also added some cars to the Club Garage
Just got the game and have a few questions for you folks : 1) Do you use a wheel or a controller? 2) What settings do you use? : Recommended Line? Off, Braking, or full? Assisted Braking? On, ABS, ABS Off Manual or Automatic Any other settings? What view? I have been using the cockpit view. I played mostly career so far. Went online and saw you still have control over the settings, so started to wonder what folks most commonly use? Thanks!!
It really depends on your driving style. 1) Controller 2) I drive with the recommended line off, overhead view. The other settings depend on the car/race. I never use assisted braking on, either ABS on/off.
1.)controller 2.) recommended line Braking only. assisted braking off/abs off manual cockpit or 3rd. really depends on what u like.
I have the Fanatec CSR wheel and elite pedals. It's the closest thing you will get to actual racing and it's amazing! If I'm practicing a hot lap on a new track, i'll turn the full racing line on for the first few laps, just to get a correct line, then i'll turn it off With the wheel, i use the paddle shifters on manual mode and have the traction and ABS on. I need to start working at playing with them off. For the view, it depends, sometimes the cockpit and sometimes just the open road view What is fun is getting on Xbox live and racing online with other people. It's also fun to keep track of your best lap times and compare yourself to the community. You can also buy/sell cars in an online auction
Thanks guys. Houston - do you have a driving chair rig? I always found it hard to get comfortable with the wheels and pedals.... do you just set it on a table or what?
Controller, ABS on, Trac/Stab off, manual, no line, and the hardest difficulty setting on career with simulation damage. For the ZR-1 time attack challenge I used Traction on, but just for that challenge. Also, I just set a rank 675 time out of over 67,000 players for hot lapping in Rivals Mode at Nurburgring in the F50 GT. I tried the Mosler R1 900 and was running two seconds quicker but dropped a wheel and got mad so I turned it off. I'm giving it another shot tonight.
I've got a movie room with those media type recliners. I took a piece of thick manufactured plywood and cut out a cockpit and weighted down the two ends that wrap around me with bricks, and painted it so it at least looks decent lol. Mounted the steering wheel on that and the pedals dont move at all on the carpet below because they are heavy and have traction. works like a charm. I'll have to take a picture of it and post it here
Cool thanks. Im tempted to buy a wheel and chair, but the driving games dont keep my interest as much as an MW3 does. So Im worried that it would just sit there.
I use controller but sometimes I use the wheel(thrustmaster 458 wheel that downshifts only when it wants to). I use to only play with a whee(Microsoft force feedback wheel). I loved that thing but one day after letting someone else use it, it was out of alignment and didn't work right so I bought another one on craigslist. That soon stopped working for no reason. It just one day decided not to register pedal movement. Since I've already explained my situation, anyone with a Microsoft wheel care to possibly offer a way to fix the issue. I love having a wheel but everything is so much more expensive. As to wheel vs controller, the controller is harder to get used to, but once you get used to it I find it just as good as the wheel or at least close enough.
Controller but I know if I had a wheel I'd be quicker thru corners I have all assists off (cept clutch) you can ease yourself into not using them. There is an actual in game advantage to use the clutch but it feels weird using it as a button and not a pedal I usually use cockpit view but sometimes hood or bumper cam. I only use the outside car view when I'm drifting. Tho this really is a personal preference.
While playing around with the new pack I decided to do a quick drive in the Veyron, played around the suspension and really corrected a lot of the understeer. Still can't quite fix the brakes. Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
