Found 77 GTB for sale on CL - Denver, if someone is interested

I can't be positive from two photos, but I believe I owned this car 1997-1998. As far as I know the guy I sold it to still has it. Mileage would be about right.

Anybody know what's up with the two-tone paint work? Was that standard or indication of a respray? I'm kinda digging it, especially if the paint was bad and I could get a deal then respray in black.

 

Ferrari did do Boxer paint styles on the 308's but I didn't know they did it this early in the model series.

 

I remember these EXACT photos being emailed to me three years ago when I was shopping for my current 77 GTB. If memory serves my correct, I believe Mr. Helms knows the car rather well.

In his book, Bluemel has a '76 glass 308 with a factory Boxer scheme, so that would imply they did.

If it checks out then it's a good buy. Get an inspection.

 

Robb from F-chat is doing me a HUGE favor and taking a look at the black/black 328 GTB for me up in Spokane tomorrow, but if that doesn't pan out (and for significantly less than 62k), then I may go this route instead... obviously, it's pretty cool that simply from a couple weeks on F-chat a complete stranger is taking time out of his business trip to go inspect and photograph a car I'm interested in! Positive vibes!

 

I would want to check on that Boxer scheme. It very well could be the original scheme for this car but be certain about that.

Lots of the GT4s were done with the Boxer paint but from when the GTB and GTS were new (I was in LA then) I do not remember any with this paint scheme.

I have all the interior pictures, an original unmolested car, the owner is an architect IIRC and at one time it was in Houston......

But the guy has owned this one a long time....

 

Two of my three are ORIGINAL Boxer paint, you'll recall the Boxer at the time was a world supercar, not legal for sale in the US......so a lot of the 308GTBs carried to nod to Big Brother......

1976 -1977 Boxer 308GTB paint schemes confirmed...LOL!

This car has a black interior ....I have a picture (in Valeria's computer) of his son sitting inside....the look on his face says "Don't sell my Ferrari, Dad!"

I sold it to him but that was 10+ years ago. I think it had 30-32K on it at the time. Not concours, but it ran good. Of course, a lot can change in 10 years. It has had good ownership history with 2 long ownerships with me in between.

Have also seen a factory boxer paint job (red/black) on a 328 GTS.
