Karen and I took a ride yesterday out in western NJ and stumbled onto a few places that would make a great run. We took a ride out Rt46 west, which becomes a very nice and quite road past Dover on the way out to the Del Water Gap.

We ran past The Pequest Trout Hatchery
    http://www.state.nj.us/dep/fgw/pequest.htm
Very nice place just as a "strech your leg" and see something a bit diffrent

    Then ran past Island Dragway
    http://www.islanddragway.com/index.htm
Kool place that run a drag strip for street and NHRA runs, including Friday nights, Sat & Sun. Great place to watch and for those that may want to race for time (very inexpensive)

As we cont up 46west with the Pequest river running next to us (very nice) we stopped at Hot Dog Johnny's in Buttzville
    http://www.hotdogjohnny.com/shop/
    Great Hotdogs, Root Beer, Fries
Parking with outdoor seating....One of the top rated hotdog place in the country....

Let me know what your thoughts are......
    Adam

Someone take the reigns and set this one up.

I have a feeling it will be well attended and you can rest assured I'll be there.

I think this needs to be a separate event John and you certainly don't want that many cars along for this ride. It will most certainly get unruly..

we can try and do a brunch (mtg. point) here
    http://www.ardore.com/listing.asp?r=ilmichelangelo14&c=Morris&m=c&u=Italian
I understand it is near rt46, the owners are freinds of mine and passionate ferrarisitas and it is real italian food that kicks !

I say no cps too...the cops are out this srping and a speeding group of ferraris would be like christmas in May for them..they get to right the all popular "racing on the street" license/insurance loser ticket that brings so much fun to everyone's life.

This kind of run is more like the runs I used to do on the HOG....Nice roads, windows down, cruising along the backroads, good stops....but nothing that would make the cops (which there were very very few) upset. I think the drag races could be fun.........
    Adam

Clyde....You are one of a few people that I knew would know Johnny's....prob a JJ's fan too.

Actually, I just had to visit Buttzville. Johnny's was a perk.
Rut's Hut, Maple Snack Bar, Anthony Wayne Grill (defunct) I know.

    JJ's ???? maybe next run :D

This is an beautiful route to take , continue on 46 thruough to the Water Gap, a nice scenic ride.
Johnny Hot Dogs are excellent, I have been there a 100 times growing up. My parents have a house in Mt.Bethel Pa and thisis the route we'd take all the time.
Not a fan of their Buttermilk though, they are known for it.

    hi Adam,

I use to eat there often, just after highschool (just after cars were invented), a friend and I owned a 1959 Plymouth Sport Fury, with two four barrel carbs, we would go up to the Island an run the quarter, was a favorite hangout.
I was there when Don Qarlits on his rail broke the 200 MPH for the quarter, did it the second time after going off the end of the track and busting up the nose, a day to remember.
That's a great area, lived up there for years, the Water Gap is another great visit just west of there.
Say hello to Karen,,,, we'll get together soon.

    John

For what its worth, We need a serious Early Risers Sunday morning run. Not to be selective, but white knuckle drivers only. This weekend is shot out for rain, next Sunday we have the Children's Hospital. We *HAVE* to do one in May. My tires are getting flat spots. I know Eric, Vik, Niptuck, John B and Mr. Black 512M, Arwin and the loudest Black Tubi NSX I know are up to it. How does Early Sunday May 7th sound.
