So it's a 1997 F355 Spider 6 speed gated, Red/Tan with 45,000 miles. I have not seen the car in person but it looks nice in the photos. Had a major done with a hose kit replacement in May of 2015. I should mention this car is at a used car dealership. There are some other service records but the next one goes back to 2011 but the car only went 7,000 miles from that service in 2011 until this one in 2015. He said the brake light on the dash won't go off and the prior owner had the service department try to fix it but after 3 hours they gave up.

They are asking $59,999 and I'm trying to work a trade with my Cobra.

Thoughts? Obviously I will get a PPI done with Compression and leak down.

97 is likely the Teves brake system and the light could be as simple as improper fluid level or bleeding to a serious problem with the ABS system.

Regarding value, etc, you need to understand you are asking opinions with near zero information :)

But, in this market, that price (given those miles) is very optomistic.

I also truly believe you are going down this path with one hand tied behind your back due to the trade.

My advice: sell your Cobra, then buy a 355;)

I know that's the smart thing to do, but.... He said the interior has no sticky issues. He is going to do a walk around video tomorrow as well as driving.

There's a difference between 'having no sticky issues' and 'sticky parts have been refinished'.

Status of valve guides? headers? soft top? (the usual stuff). I would factor those things into the price.

    Oh boy....if I had a dollar every time I heard that..... :)

Joking aside, sellers say "no sticky issues" or "all stickies resovled" so often I'm numb to it. Truth is, in most cases only some parts are done, if any but I digress...

I'm a 355 owner (2 currently, just sold a 3rd a couple months back) my comments are to help you, nothing more, nothing less :)

I have the car fax which doesn't give much service info but it does say the catalytic converters were replaced at 10,000 miles and 17,000 miles. Exhaust manifold gasket replaced at 24,000. Shows 15,000 mile service and 22,000 mile service. Exhaust system replaced at 30,000. Not sure on the valve guides and headers. Pretty sure this dealer doesn't know either or have any records to show if it had been done.

He says the top works fine, so I will have him video it tomorrow going up and down.

    This.....
    Where is the car ?
    And where are you ?
There may be an F chat member close who can go and look the car over.
Or a Ferrari type Indy shop mechanic close who can give it the once over.

Were the cats and exhaust system replaced with another stock system or aftermarket? If stock, plan on doing it again...

I've said this in a previous thread you had but I agree with what Dave says, sell the Cobra and then buy a 355. If you're trying to trade in for tax breaks, I'm pretty sure you can save that amount by just shopping around more with cash in your hand.

Theres no tax break for trading a car in michigan.

We pay tax once when we buy it and then every year qe get the birthday tax when we get new yearly tags.

Btw the charge for my license plate sticker in michigan was $500 for the year based on the 355s retail price when new..

So they stick it to us that way.
    And our insurance sucks too!

Nice car. I looked at it (online and email) last summer before I bought my car. They've either had it for sale but not advertised for a while or they sold it and maybe took it back in trade?

Yeah he sold it to a guy who then drove it about 800 miles and decided he wanted a new Corvette so he sold it back to them.
