The title of this thread has to do with Oprah....not spinning it into business men, but if we go there. How much has Donald taken from the city of NY ? How much has he given back ? Dont tell me he builds beautiful buildings is a contribution, his name is plastered everyone....the whore that he is. As for Dell, yeah, Im sure those slave labor factories have air conditioning for his workers. And his workers here, especially New bix reps, are discarded after a yr due to burnout.....hows that for loyalty.

I dont think there is a small portion that are super wealth, I think its a very big number. If you put it in perspective, the Vanderbuilt family in 1900 had a net worth valued at 50% of the gross GDP. That type of scale no longer exsists.

Back to the original topic, William H helped out in a disaster, my question is where were the super rich ? Celebrities go everywhere like whores promoting causes, but dont put there money where there mouth is.....a million for a celebrity is chump change, so for Oprah to do this and she seems to be the only one that is really putting herself out there more than others, she could still do more. Thats all Im saying.

Oprah's a full-blown businesswoman as well celebrity to go along with it. Trump is a scumbag (and a more of a PR person than a businessmen, whose net worth I think is very, very inflated and was very rich to begin it). I don't know what Oprah donated for 9/11, Katrina, but she donates a ton of money to various causes. Re-reading the article, I wonder if she was asked about her wealth? I highly doubt she would come straight out and talk about it. As number of the "truly rich" celebrities, I guess we'll disagree. Many of them spend faster than it comes in.

I'm just curious, why does your location say "taxed to death"? Also, should this be merged with the success/luck thread in B&I? Seems like that thread might have a more variety of voices to chime in.

I guess the bottom line is, why should people who have wealth, feel guilty about what they do with their money that they've worked for (again, not Paris Hilton-type heirs, ect.)? If they donate, enjoy themselves as well, and employ people with jobs, why should they be punished more even when they are doing more than the regular Joe?
