Like the title says, anybody have a recommendation for home foundation repair company in the metroplex (SW FTW)? House has a 50 year old slab foundation that needs a little lift.

    Thanks for your help.

From what I've read, it's the expansive soil /clay we have in many places in Texas. Wiki article is particularly fun for the chemist/geek, what with it's octahedral sheets & crystal lattices!

I suspect the cycling between hot & dry and wetter weather episodes that we get down here doesn't help.

Plus the lowest bidder does the work....not enough rebar and the footings should be larger. If done properly, there will not be any problems.

There was a home builder in my parents' neighborhood that would set the forms for the foundation, lay the rebar and have the city inspector on site while the concrete was poured. After the inspector signed off on the pour and left, the contractor would have his crew remove the rebar, wash it off and take it to the next job site to be reused.

Made for some really spectacular foundation failures.

Houston is built on old rice fields..mainly why is floods so easy too. Also, the amount of gumbo is very large.. the vast range of heat cycles/drought, water tables is roughly 3/6 feet depending on whee you are..

and the biggest reason..is a tie between very crappy contractors and they don't make concrete like they use to... they use different materials now then in the 1930/40's... I just removed a slab that didn't have a single piece of rebar in it that a house was on and it didn't even have a single crack in it..
