FoW have been kicking around the idea of a presence in Maryland for years.

I don't think the opening of a couple independent shops - even good ones, and assuming they survive in a tough business - will hurt FoW in the long run. Very difficult to compete with an authorized dealer with respect to cars under warranty, for example. FoW have created a lot of good will and loyalty in their well established customer base - folks who value their relationship with the dealership and will keep their service business where it is.

Finally, it's possible and to my mind likely that the presence of independent shops with expertise in Ferrari and other marques may actually work to make exotic ownership more palatable in the DC/Baltimore area - expanding FoW's market.

    Sales and Service??

what I don't get is why invest in a second sales facility. I don't think any of the dealers has inventory of new cars to sell. Hell, Algar is sold out through the 430 run.

So unless they think service can carry a second facility's costs, why bother?

don't know the answer, but i suspect if they got approval for a new dealership from fna, they got a new allocation too.

I heard this from one the sales guys at FOW. Like in "Field of Dreams" build it and they will come. There has got to be more than 3 F cars in Baltimore.
Anyway, there will be more now with the increased visibility here.

    WTF?

Just to pick two members of the current team, I've had Dan McGowan and Sean Hahn do first rate work on my Challenge and street cars. I'd trust either of these guys with anything I own.

The shop is supervised by Glenn Marquis, former crew chief for FoW's Rolex series championship team. Glenn's a hands on guy who knows the cars.

And if a good mechanic leaves? Well, good people come and go in every business. Speaking of comings and goings, it's my understanding that FoW soon will be adding a very experienced tech, known in the local exotic car community, to its shop.

Come on, wet, these are professionals who do great work and you're insulting them. Is that really what you meant to do?

Let's say that FoW is opening "a facility" in the Baltimore area. No doubt they'd introduce it with the appropriate announcements, etc. I'd suggest waiting for an announcement before drawing conclusions about their plans.
