My radiator overflow coolant tank on my 360 was due for a repaint. I take it off after work on Wednesday evening, prep it, then shoot it with some Trim Black on Thursday morning before work. I have found that simply setting up a stand in my back yard in the morning before any wind comes around is just as effective as turning my garage into a paint booth for small parts such as this. I was going to call a friend from work and have them move the part into the garage after a couple of hours, but thought to myself, "I live alone, no pets, what could possibly happen?". So, I just let it sit there all day.
Well I get home, go into the backyard to check out the part, and instantly realize why moving it into the garage would not have been a bad thing. Namely, two Mount Fuji sized mountains of bird **** right on the top. I try not to panic. I bring the part into the kitchen and under the sink. The white pile came off fairly easy, but I don't know what that other bird was eating that day, because I about never got that black pile off. Anyone have a .410 shotgun I can borrow?

Be careful removing that stuff... You know the old story about the Foo bird, don't you?? ;-)

Seriously, that stuff is really destructive. Just be glad it's not on the hood of the 360! It will eat the paint right off it. Really, the only choice (which I'm sure you figured out) is to clean that stuff off and start all over painting the part. Just be sure you really clean the surface and neutralize whatever was there before repainting, otherwise you might find the paint buckling up on you. And next time, set the parts in the garage to dry. But I bet you figured that out.

Mike...I've seen your engine bay - it's spotless. It's beyond spotless...it's newer than new, cleaner than clean. How in the *world* could your overflow tank be "due" for a repaint? Unless by "due" you mean "hasn't been done since last month", I don't get it! :p
