Frank Lloyd Wright

The only "Wright House" I have ever visited was commissioned by Howard E. Anthony, the guy who purchased Heath Co. from founder Edward Bayard Heath upon Heath's death from a plane crash in 1937. Anthony was the force behind creating one of the biggest brands of ham radio gear, in kit form, called Heathkit. I did an extensive "historical deep dive" on Anthony back in 2017, which included visiting the former factory locations - and his home at 1150 Miami Road in Benton Harbor, Michigan.

Anthony spent one million bux on the property and house in 1952, and Wright always made it part of the contract to furnish the home as well - which was another $100,000 in 1952 dollars.

Ironically, Anthony himself also died in a plane crash, in July 1954.

Today the house is really worn out... in fact, the entire neighborhood, once a bastion of the rich and powerful of the area, is overall in disarray and run down. Most of the homes like Anthony's all look like crap.
