'You buy a Ferrari when you want to be somebody. You buy a Lamborghini when you are somebody.' Frank Sinatra not sure if he really said it or not, i got it from another forum..
Well is was: If you want to be someone you buy a Ferrari - If you are someone you own a Lamborghini - He said it when he got his Miura

Interesting celebs who have Lambo - Jay Leno - several Rod Stewart had a Diablo and now a Murci Roadster Tony Stewart (NASCAR) has an orange Murci
More infos, This Miura is number 4407 and S model from 69. Owner told me she was given in the 70s to a model who then sold it to purchase a Countach. Florent
Here's the ad as it ran back in the Spring of '03 >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> <<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<< >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> Think of the most sensational road car available in the Sixties and you would have to say it was the Lamborghini Miura -- the car that Ferruccio Lamborghini proudly drove to Casino Square during the 1966 Monaco Grand Prix weekend and wowed the crowds with. Four litres of V12 magnificence breathing through a bank of Weber carburettors, the whole ensemble mounted transversely and sitting behind the driver and passenger, capable of a whopping 325bhp and 163mph, all clothed in stunning Bertone bodywork. The Miura was THE car to see and be seen in, and well heeled clients, who sometimes had to wait a year for their prize, included the likes of 60s Formula One driver Jean-Pierre Beltoise, King Fahd of Saudi Arabia, Briggs Cunningham and Rod Stewart. The first owner of this car, chassis number 4407, a 1970 P400S, was none other than Mr. Frank Sinatra. Legend has it that the great performer arrived at the Sant' Agata works outside Turin carrying a roll of 'Wild Boar' skin leather under his arm and instructed the factory to build him a Miura with Arancio (Orange Metallic) paintwork and trimmed with the Pelle Cinghiale leather he had in hand! The car was delivered directly to Mr. Sinatra rather than through the established U.S. concessionaire Modena Cars of New York, and the factory register simply states the accepting first owner as "Sinatra". Apparently Sinatra gave the car to model Gloria Kent and she subsequently traded it for a new Lamborghini Countach LP400. The current private owner purchased it in 1977 when it had just 33,000 recorded miles and has kept the Miura dry-stored ever since, the current mileage reading an amazing 36,840 from new! Thus it is fabulously original condition today, with its fitted 8-track stereo player, trimmed with the one-off wild boar leather interior and orange shag carpeting and still has its original metallic orange paintwork. engine The Christie's auction in Rockefeller Center on June 5 could hardly be more appropriate for such an iconic car with such illustrious ownership history. Think of the most sensational road car available in the Sixties and you would have to say it was the Lamborghini Miura -- the car that Ferruccio Lamborghini proudly drove to Casino Square during the 1966 Monaco Grand Prix weekend and wowed the crowds with. the fact that ferrari has a storied formula one racing history (in monaco and beyond) stands them apart from anything lamborghini has produced. enzo ferrari's passion was racing, first and foremost. he built road cars to finance his racing programs. you can't buy what you achieve from a winning racing program. formula one is the pinnacle of automotive racing. ferrari is the pinnacle of formula one. just my opinion. joe
Florent: That car had Boar leather interior (supposedly shot by Sinatra during a hunting trip, but I think that is more myth than reality) and orange shag carpet. Do you know if the new owner restored to the car with Boar's leather and shag carpet? Was it fully restored? Thank you. Alberto
Frankie prefered big ugly American iron, such as boat edition Continentals with blue trim to match his blue eyes, I know because I used to have his gofer bring all his cars to my car wash in Palm Springs. The Miura is the greatest Lambo and the only true one IMO as after F Lambo left in the 70s Lambo lost its way and got too extreme and desparate in it's design, more focused on appearance than drivebility and practicality not to mention neglect of safety for exit in roll overs with the swing up doors copied from Ferrari race cars. F Lambo was quoted many times to say Ferraris where his favorite car.
The inspiration for the Countach was the Porsche 917K and not any Ferrari. I didn't know he used to ask Ferraris where was his favorite car, I guess he had some Ferrari family members as maids, way to go Ferrucio!
Another quote I heard from my cousin is " Why buy a prancing horse, when you can buy a raging bull." Don't know if he made that one up or saw it somewhere else. But I always like that quote.
Alberto, Though the car was fully restored, the owner kept the interior very original even the carpets as the condiiton was excellent. The car is nice. I'll contact the owner to ask him to join the forum. All the best, Florent
I saw that car in Norway for some onths ago... It was fantastic! the first lambo with metallic paint.
