    Tonight around 8:00pm, Fred’s Café suffered a catastrophic kitchen fire. I was out on the patio enjoying the band, & just walking into the café building when a wave of people carrying schooners of beer began to file out the door with confused & panicked looks on their faces. At first I thought it was a joke, if have even been there you would understand why. The next thing I knew I was looking at the kitchen stove engulfed in flames & spreading fast. Some of the staff was in a panic, I tried to find a fire extinguisher or baking soda but I couldn’t locate one in time. I even yelled out to the crowd for anyone that had one in their car or truck to bring it in ASAP! Before I knew it, the kitchen area was engulfed in flames coming out the roof & rafters. The only thing we could was to get the hell out due to the gas lines & the extreme heat, thank God the fire dept arrived in time.

    On a good note, no one was hurt. Bad news is this will closed the place for awhile (a couple months) due to the north side of the building will need to be rebuilt. It’s kind of hard to say what the building inspector will say coming next week, this place is my second home & I’ve been friends with the owners & made many friends there for over 15 years strong. If anything it will be back as soon as the city allows, btw thanks for coming by Jason, any help with city inspectors to get the job rolling will greatly appreciated. I need to
    get some rest.

    Glad to hear you're okay. I hope they open up soon, for your sake. I've never been. Perhaps this will bring more business once they open up again.

    The cafe is reopened for business! Come by & check it out, it took a lot longer than expected but at least it's done.

    Not to be a spoilsport, but...

    The cash-only food & whatnot may be killer, however, it's still the second least appetizing restaurant website in the world.

    I'm sorry for broaching the subject of the website, it was simply meant to be constructive "criticism."

    All I know is: Cash Only, Styro cups, Fritos & Coors (Light) await me along with a heretofore unseen patio.

    See, the idea is that the soul of the place wouldn't be lost were Fred's to blow it's own horn a little.

    You know who's still got a low-key online presence is Morgan Freeman's place - Ground Zero in Memphis ("Ground Zero" opened a few months or so before 9/11) - still getting rave reviews

    So, by no means is it the beer bar/burger heaven/live band showcase being "slammed" - that's gotta be a really cool hangout & thanks to your mention at the time of the tragic fire and now, one I'd visit along with another many hours away... to see, smell and hear that beautiful patio.

    I made a typo earlier and it made me think of this thread.

    How about making him a custom shirt that says "FerrariChar" instead of "FerrariChat" ?

    I went by Fred's today to get some lunch only to find out they had another fire last week. From what I understand it was a small one & not involving the kitchen. Geez, it's like this place can't get a break.
