Hi, I'm usually over in the 550/575 forum but my first Ferrari was also a V12: a beautiful 1984 400i 5-spd (with a full Tubi system...what a great noise that car made!!!)

Sold it long ago, but I still remember that car very fondly. Great fun driving up to the Montreal GP from NYC.

I still have a workshop manual (the blue 3-ring binder one) which I've kept as a momento, but I think it better belongs with someone who can use it. Free to whomever is the first to reply; I'll cover the cost of postage from Hong Kong.

    Best,
    Ben

    Hi Ben:

Nice to see you here on the 400i forum. I remember your beautiful dark red rosso nearco 5 speed with the Tubi (# 48741) very well from when I test drove it in New York City back in 1998. I actually saw your old car a few years later at the Indy F1 GP when Tom G. drove it down from Minnesota (?).

While I didn't buy your car, I did buy a nice silver/black 1983 5 speed (46153) out of Laguna Beach in California later that year and have been happily enjoying it ever since.

Hope all is well in HK and glad to hear that the Ferrari passion is still strong with you.

    John

Ross - it's yours...PM sent back to you.

John - long time no see/talk! Great to reconnect with you and hear some old names from the FerrariList days. Glad that #48741 is in good hands. It's gotta be one of the very few 400i's with a full Tubi system...there can't be any other owners as crazy as I was to spend 50% of the car's value on an exhaust system. All is well here in HK, and yes, still a tifosi. 550 Maranello is my baby now, although there's also a 360 spider and a 430 spider parked in the garage. Give my regards to the old List gang if you see or talk to them!

Taz - You're too kind. I don't have the knowledge database like you do so that I could really contribute to the community. I've been on the receiving end of very generous help/gifts from other Ferrari owners over the years. I remember soon after buying #48741 that I was invited to a private track day near Talledega by some Ferrari owners that I only knew by email on the old FerrariList. I flew down from NYC, and upon arrival guys I never met were urging me to take the keys to their Ferraris and other exotics. Simply amazing.

Thanks Ben for your generous offer. Also a timely one as my car is about to be awakened from a long sleep. This manual is going to get dirty.

    Thanks Ben!
It has just now arrived. I'm running out of excuses to get my car back on the road.
