Last time I was out in Monterey I attended several "free" carshows that were a ton of fun. A gentleman on the plane trip heading there told me where and what time (he has been antending for about 15 years) but it has been so long ago I do not recall. My father and I along with two friends are heading out on the 17th so can anyone tell me again where some of there shows or informal gatherings are usually located? We are also visiting some auctions, the Concorso and the races but what else is going on? Thanks in advance

There is a nice little free show I believe up on Lighthouse Street every year on Friday. I think its a benefit for the Animal Shelter, or something like that.

Two events come to mind that are both free and must-dos. One- Concours on the Avenue, a new event, a competitive concours to be on Ocean avenue in Carmel on Tues the 14th; get details at www.carmelconcours.com. Two- Many of the cars (at least the mobile ones) that are in the big PB Concours on Sunday do a drive/rally on Thurs. that week (prob followed by a fleet of AAA trucks), and stop for lunch in Carmel, also parking on Ocean Ave to be viewed by the masses- plan to arrive in the 10:30-11:00 range- a great chance to see the creme of the PB cars w/o the pomp and circumstance (and the $150. ticket) of the their Sunday Concours. See you there!

Khakis Mens Clothing has an excellent Ferrari show in their parking lot - very relaxed, low key - free to view - Saturday evening after the Historics. 90% Ferraris, although there are usually a few crashers - Lamborghinis, Aston Martin etc.
