Hi there I know this is a long shot, but I swear I recall someone once posting about a program in Italy where they will give you a house in certain underpopulated areas if one promises to fix it up and stay there. Does anyone know what I'm remembering?
It is not a nationwide program. Certain rural counties, mainly in mountain areas, did something like that. They sold you a wreck house for a nominal fee provided that you commit to the restoration and to live there for a certain amount of time every year. Final aim is to re populare these remote areas and to open "new" places to tourism. Ciao Eugenio
