You’d need a lot of storage space on your camera Engine arrived last week I get told today that they’ll start work next week and they expect 1-2 weeks for the measure/reassemble of the engine Note that they have already assembled the heads (new heads, valve guides, valves etc etc) To cap it off - they can’t give me an accurate estimate on fitting of the engine to the car Faaarken amazing Sent from my iPhone using FerrariChat.com mobile app
We are, collectively, feeling your pain David. Why the f**k don't you get off work and do the GG instead. You know you'll receive all the ...................................................... oh hang on it's the GG ..........no way get fuched, fuch off...
Steve, I could share horror stories about 90% of the independent mechanics in Sydney. It's an unfortunate fact of Ferrari life. btw a well known Adelaide independent fuchsed the F1 wiring harness in my 575, which later had to be completely replaced by the main dealer here. The bill? 800 bucks! It's not only Ferraris, the first guy I gave my Vette engine to tried to steal it. I had a 6 month nightmare recovering it, then did the rebuild myself because I had lost all trust in the industry. I now use Ferrari dealers for major services, pricing is close to identical and you have more chance of recourse if there's an issue.
Imagine taking a 308 to the dealer for an engine or gearbox rebuild.....or just about anything, really. OLIO....no thanks.
There were at least 3 in the workshop at FMS last time I was there. If they’re happy to take on the work, I don’t see a problem. Factory parts and warranty. Their parts prices are cheaper than what I can usually find online too and likely cheaper than what the independents will charge.
For what? An oil change? Whatever you reckon. There is no way in god's earth that anyone employed at that place will know the intricacies of those cars. I'd like to see one of them fixing an electric window problem, for example.
From what I could tell, one was having a belt change done I know of a 328 that had an engine rebuild done there From what you’re saying, you must be familiar with the skill set of all the various mechanics employed by them. FFS as if a 308 rebuild is complicated. I’m sure I could do it myself if I had the resources they have Whom do you recommend in Sydney? I can’t think of a single independent I’d be happy to leave my car with.
I live in melbourne. I've seen what the dealer is capable of.....and all brands...all dealers...they're all the same.
When Horse was purchased from the Ferrari dealer in Brisbane we had so little confidence in their ability to do the 1,000k oil change that we got an agreement from Marenello Concessionaires that John McLean could do it without voiding the warranty! Horse has never, and will never, see the inside of a Ferrari dealer workshop. **** I love living in Queensland.
I give them a hard time. Some respond well, some done. Some honour their work, some don't. Some I recommend, some I don't. The ones who won't do my work and ones who I wouldn't consider again, ever. We all know who they are.
Different times, different on many levels. Anyway, I’m talking about Sydney and MY experience. If the dealer has done something I’m not happy with, gets sorted promptly with no argument. Dealing with the independents has always been a head****. I’m too busy these days for things not to work to my schedule
And that was 33 odd years ago. Nothing has changed up here except Horse now goes to one of John McLean's apprentices!
There are some things you wouldn't do with FChat posters. Let moretti wash your plane. Have PP as a customer. Suggest to Wes you use a toll road. Etc etc.
You've had problems with them that they've rectified. Great! But these were problems with no more than routine service. Imagine if the car had a real issue! No thanks.... Been there.... Done that.
Their team changed after McCarrolls took over. Last service I did was in January and everything was fine
