Wax, no way have any of us Aussies ever infered that YOU would be deceptive or incongruous in decisions made towards the fairness of judicial means towards members of this community.

However there have been some dubious decisions made where certain members of the moderating fraternity have exercised less than spectacular judgement in their actions.

I use to love the F1 section for getting the latest news from the racing world without having to trawl through many formula one sites to find items of interest to me in relation to Ferrari but now it has just degenerated into crystal ball gazing and hate threads which neither promote interest or informative debates and then there is permitted posts from members calling Aussies racist, something Americans would not tolerate and would be demanding an apology at least or a ban of some kind to temper such comments.

he highlighted some flaws in a certain person's rash comments in relation to past champions and current situations in F1 that proved to be wrong, big stretch to implying that someone is a liar, more like a nah nah nee arn nah comment, childish possibly at a stretch but not explicitly calling them a liar.

The knee jerk reaction is that of a thin-skinned unbalanced individual who has collaborated in a past misdemeanour of his own in cahoots with another mod to cover up indiscretions of kraftwerk when he said I sucked MM's old fella, fine example of poor modding and I know what those mods think of the Aussie section because funnily enough I've been there.

People here don't know how much you have protected certain individuals and the extent of your patience with the miscreants we have here (I include myself in that section )

Still the BIG thing Aussies love to be enarmoured about is our sense of fair play , egalitarianism and right to say what we think .... strangely, very much that Americans like to push in their wheelbarrow.

The one thing I know is that there were more moderate Americans in the moderators forum than there were gungho nutters, probably the only reason the Aussie section is still here and I think RL secretly loves us (well, maybe not )

Yes I'm stirring up the F1 section, so what, they deserve it, I've said nothing that is not true and that is what upsets the boat, too bad that some posts refer to Australia as racist by some ****, get him to come in here and say it, he'll cop the mother of all arse tearings and justifiably so, we're proud of our country and what our fathers and grandfathers fought for so he can stick his comments about us being racist up his arse.

It was a thread about Hamilton doing something stupid, he admitted it, but some people wanted to use it as a platform to hop on their soapbox and say that they and F1 drivers are above the law, well here in this society which seemed to dispense justice in a fair and unbiased manner is being lambasted by ignorant people for cops (who I have canned before myself) were just exercising the laws of the land as they stood.

If anything I have said is wrong then ban me , these people want to learn to use the internet correctly .... inform, have fun, make friends (keep away from those porn sites !!! too many viruses and trojans lately )

Keen observations, all. Of paramount importance is Aussie pride expressed throughout not just the above post, but here, there and everywhere by all parties to this huge corner of the world. Badge of honor it is, and rightfully so.

There is no disagreement that broad-swathed comments regarding bigotry were unwarranted and were certain to elicit a response. In tandem, rebuffing presumptuous allegations that DWB {Driving While Black] was raison d etre for this particularly case of in famously Anti-Hoon Oz, particularly in light of the very recent nearby fatality was equally justifiable.

Nevertheless, grievous as all those points may be, alleging one to speak untruths is unjustifiable. That, in turn, justifies short-term ban.

As to the question of moderating impartially, those who are most impartial and express evenhandedly . . . are most likely to ban most often, whilst brandishing the two-edged sword. Funny, that.

Excellent rebuttal, Speed. However, as you noted, disbelieving accusations are levied at newcomers, not veteran members. Unfortunate, in either case, but, there are great many a pretender, and some precede truthful new members by a matter of hours, sometimes, even minutes. For instance, as we near the High Holy Days, there will be a few who deceive only themselves.

Since time immemorial, the muddled waters of truth and/or consequences have been the subject of debate. As indicated before, battles and words must be chosen wisely. Some slights are real, some perceived, some need a rest, however long that may be.

Tifosi himself posted yesterday that he's often been wrong. I didn't call him a liar, I was mocking him with his informed sources crap. that's how he backs up everything he says.

So, is tifosi a liar? I have no idea. But he IS sometimes wrong....informed sources or not and I just happen to enjoy pointing out when people are wrong. On top of that, berating and ridiculing people who don't agree with his (sometimes wrong) "facts" makes participation unpleasant for some. For me, it's sport

To make matters worse, he banned me because he thinks I called him a liar, which he may or may not be...how would I know, which I don't really think is in the spirit of moderation.

The ban said "for calling a mod a liar"

Does that mean it's ok to call anyone else a liar?
