not a member, although my neighbour was, question for you.

he told me that if he or a brother were stuck in another country, that you are supposed to sit in a public place and do a secret hand/finger signal, and eventaully, 1 minutes, 1 hour, 1 day, 1 week etc,. that eventaully another brother would see it, and give you the money to get home.
    is this true?

LOL, that's a good one. So all Freemasons walk around with money for a plane ticket just in case they see a member doing a hand signal huh? How often was Ben Franklin stranded without plane fare I wonder?

Well...that’s a romantic story, however, if you were stuck in another country you could locate the closest Masonic Lodge, and providing you have the correct documentation with you-you can ask for assistance. This would most likely be put to a vote before the lodge, however if you happen to meet an individual brother, and if he so desired, and if it doesn't cause him any financial burden, he may be able to assist you in getting home...but that is up to the individual.

I am not a member but my father-in-law was for many years before his death. Also my mother-in-law has been an Eastern Star for years.

I do know that the Masons as an organizations have done much over the years in the way of benevolance. My father-in-law was a Shriner and if you look it up you will see all about the Shriner's Burn Center and the number of people it has helped.

I did witness him on several occasions give other "brothers" assistance when it came to transportation, food, lodging, etc.

NOt knowing all the "secrets", I do not know about the internal workings......

I read that Dan Brown's next book is about the Freemasons. He wrote the Da Vinci Code in case you've been living under a rock the last few years. Supposedly it's about the secret hold the Masons have on the US government...

    Didnt anyone see National Treasure??

Heres a nugget of interest. Ever seen a baseball field layout?? Of course you have.

Now turn the baseball field upside down so homeplate is on top.

    Thats the Mason logo.

Did some digging. Turns out the man that "invented" the modern day baseball field as we know it was a high-level Mason.

I am a Freemason--Pastmaster-- Ann Arbor Fratenity No 262, Ann Arbor, Michigan.
It is surprising the men who were Freemasons, in History. Particularly US History. Many of the Astronauts were and Masonic items were taken into Outerspace and the Moon.
I also am interested as Brother Show Time asks, "How many of us are Freemasons on this site? Maybe Enzo Ferrari? Michael Schumacher?
No real secrets about it anymore, it's been shown on TV and the www. is full of information about it. Rolls-Royce still has a colour for their motor cars called "Masons Black".

    Ciao...Paolo
