Having watched the GP live on an ITV internet feed and later the SPEED/ FOX tape I must say that the biggest difference was Steve Matchette's commentary. An ocean away he picked up on a number of things the ITV crew missed. For one, that Kimi's car didn't sound as bad as you would expect with a broken exhaust and stood a better chance to finish well than might be expected.

Where do you get the ITV feed? Is that a satellite thing, or some internet wizardry?

I watched the race on a Spanish Channel, I gotta say I loved the way the commentators act. It was way better than the Hamilton fans from Speed Channel...

Like I said on he hard wired PC yes on the Mac no. The pre race was on when I logged on at 7:45. The video is small but sharp the audio a bit less so. Brit GP in two weeks is a Fox tape delay so give it a try. The ads are better too.
If you think Speed is pro-Hamilton...

Ditto about the comparison of ITV vs Speed being pro-Hamilton !
I tried to watch the http://stream.ra1kkonen.com/ feed, but it didn't work. Is that where you went, too ? I never got anything to show up in the box. I should have gone mainstream and tried windows. More proof that Linux isn't ready for primetime, I suppose ! Phooey !

    Thanks for the correction.
I think that getting the link to open has more to do with the speed of the connection than the OS.

I do appreciate Matchett's insight, but I'm really tired of them sounding a McLaren fan club.

What you don't think calling for Kimi to get a black flag is pro-ferrari? :)

My personal rankings. I think the SpeedTV feed is *far* superior in terms of commentating. I do think the ITV production is a bit better though.

    Speed Team:
    Matchett (10/10)
    Hobbs (7/10)
    Windsor (7/10)
    Varsha (3/10)

    ITV Team:
    Blundell (8/10)
    Brundle (6/10)
    Kravitz (3/10)
    Allen (2/10)
    Goodman (1/10)

What's so bad about Kravitz, he's alright and gets a lot of information from pit lane bosses. Why do you rank Blundell so highly, he barely has anything to say.

That site and my site www.coresworld.net/F1 are just mirrors of the ITV.com player but gets around the "need to be in UK" issue. That site doesnt deliver the feed the data still comes directly from itv.com servers to your box. Since the servers get hammered during race time, it comes down to whoever gets in the queue 1st gets the stream, until ITV upgrade the hardware/more bandwidth, it will always be luck of the draw if you watch or not, nothing to do with you running Linux.

I would score them this way:

    Speed Team:
    Matchett (8/10)
    Hobbs (7/10)
    Windsor (9/10)
    Varsha (3/10)

    ITV Team:
    Blundell (4/10)
    Brundle (10/10)
    Kravitz (6/10)
    Allen (0/10)
    Goodman (9/10)

F1 goes back to BBC next season. It looks unlikely that they will be taking any of the ITV team with it. So unfortunately that means no Brundle, but at least it means that James Allen will no longer be polluting my ears with his whining.

    Blundell: Quality, not quantity.

Kravitz: His job is to get info from pit lane bosses. I'm rating on him on how well he does his job. I just don't think he's that good.

We only get ITV locally, but before Lewis was racing it was bearable, it is for British audience so understandable alittle biased with wanting to know where the British drivers are doing, but now they just harp on and on and on about Lewis, it gets unbearable at times.

ITV was good afew years back when Murray Walker used to do the commentary, Martin was the sidekick and James Allen was stuck in the pits telling us how many litres of fuel they put in.

Anyway BBC will have it next year, hopefully they do a better job...

ITV is near unwatchable now. I think I'll watch it for the British GP just for comedic value.

I know. She'd certainly get a lower score if I was! I think Louise does a great job. Basically her job is to get drivers who are pissed off to talk to her about what caused their crash/retirement etc. She nearly always 'gets her man'. I don't think she should be promoted to become a commentator, but I think she's great at what she does. I was a fan of James Allen when he used to do Ted Kravitz's job because he is great at the geeky fact stuff on fuel and tyre strategy. As a commentator he is, at best, annoying.

Mark Blundell is dull, joyless and comes across as rather unintelligent.

Speed loses points for getting their Emerson wrong. Consistancy is not the hobgobblin of small minds, foolish consistancy is. Thank you I feel much better now:)
