who from the TX region is going? I know that Paul and Luis from Ft. Worth have gone the past years. I applied for my father and I to go. Now that my father has a truck and trailer to haul his car in he has no excusses and with me graduating in December I think this could be a nice graduation present.
I went last year and have already registered for this year's event. Enrollment is being cut to 75 cars so the chances of a new entrant getting in are pretty slim, unfortunately. If you are serious about going, apply ASAP as the date of your application plays a role in the selection process. Forget the trailer, drive to the French Quarter. It won't hurt the car, I promise.
Went last year, took my 360 challenge car. Going this year, going to try my best to take an f40! Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
Wes - I am nearly certain your 360 CH was one of the group of 4 cars or so that were staged ahead of me on I-10. You, an Enzo, Roland, and one other stupidly fast car that I can't remember disappeared into the horizon as I chased. Then John in his GTO passed me .... and I was not going slow! One of the highlights of the trip for me.
I never saw Roland, we took off, missed the exit. got lost...it was fun. See you this year, hopefully I will be in the same group as Roland. I'm trying to get a F40 before the event, if not I will bring my 360 street car along with my 348 challenge for the track day.
Yes, Paul & Luis will be there, we rec'd our confirmation last week. I wouldn't be too anxious to drive there although - 7 hrs in the seat and scenery worth sleeping through. Trailering by far the best option from anywhere > 5 hours away.
got the acceptance email on friday. Now I just got to get dad to write the big check, and i guess i need to get a tux
You got accepted without paying first? They already charged my credit card for the event. Is Dad aware of the $3500 entry fee you just signed him up for? The hotel also runs somewhere between $275 and $450/night (I haven't checked this year's rate yet), remember to include that in your budget.
Hey Chad, save your bucks and forget the tux. A nice suit will do fine, that is unless....you need to dress to impress. But in New Orleans, after a couple of Hurricaines and a box full of beads - the chicks won't be lookin' at your tux.
Hey Luis, what WILL they be lookin' at? Speaking of beads, weren't you going to bring me some of those light up horse beads last year? An elephant never forgets.
I disagree. The balcony party is a black tie affair, a tux is not just appropriate, its expected. For the cost of a tux, why walk around the whole night feeling underdressed when everyone else is in a tux?
Like showing up to a Ferrari party and bringing your Dad's Porsche...just don't do it! The black tie party was very memorable last year. I just hope Franco doesn't have the painted ladies there again. My girlfriend bi#ched at me for 2 weeks after that. Some how it was ok to see mameries below the balcony, but on it...that just didn't go over to well. Besides, if your going to go, go in style!
Ok Ok, maybe I did forget some of the details, but now that I think about it, yes the Tuxedo is necessary - I didn't remember wearing it... But yes, BRING THE TUX.--- Yes, I have some extra light up beads from last year, will you be at the Bob Smith tour on Sat? if so, I'll bring em then. I hope the MAMMARY chicks return - they were one of the highlights of the trip. On more serious note though, Franco and John did get some flack for that, the ladies were a bit offended. But hey, whose party is it anyway?
Ok, I better see you there this year with your Tux on... Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
