H.H. Frentzen had a horror accident on Sunday in Hockenheim. He hit the tire barrier in a DTM race at 200 km/h and was unconcious for several minutes. He was taken to the hospital and examined. He is ok again and will soon be released. He is expected to make a full recovery.

Thanks for letting us know about Heinz-Harald Frentzen.
My last Formula 1 memory of him was in 2003 at the
U.S. Grand Prix, during which he finished in third place
and was on the podium with fellow German, M. Schumacher
(1st) and the Finn, Kimi Raikkonen (2nd).
In 2003 he drove a Sauber and his teammate was Nick
    Heidfeld.
This was Michael's 70th F1 victory and the last time
Heinz-Harald would appear on an F1 podium (Sept. ' 03).

My pleasure. I wish it was for a more pleasant reason. Doctors are currently worried about his brain swelling so he stays in the hospital (despite earlier reports that had him released soon).

There is some speculation, that his DTM days might be numbered and that he might come to the US to race.

Glad to hear he is okay.

Speaking of DTM......Just like Andreas said.....Frentzen has been told there will be no place for him in Mercedes-Benz's DTM squad next season.

"He has struggled much of the time," Haug said in this week's Autosport. "It's not about the size of the name but how successful they are."

There is little to no DTM coverage here in the states, but from what I've gathered it is basically the most competitive series in the world and a win there means quite a lot. I'd love if SPEED (year right!) or someone would pick it up.

As for HHF, he was never my favorite driver, but he is a true gentleman and I'm very sorry to hear about his crash. My best wishes for a quick and full recovery.

Yup, DTM is very competitive. Carwise and driverwise. No wonder many F1 drivers retire to DTM, but they don't automatically end up dominating.

Saw this race live at Hockenheim, pictures to follow soon, saw Frentzen hit the wall hard-very hard. Very unnerving as he was in the car a long long time. Hope he is on the mend.

Shame as the race was awesome and Mika and Jean done some awesome doughnuts and burnouts on the end parade lap.
