Alright so my close friend works for Chrysler specifically in the department that handles the navigation system. He took a look at mine and said the version/model is usually on the bottom of the trim, of course not in the Ferrari, he told me to go to the website listed in the system to update which is Navteq.com and let him know what info they give me there and relay it back to him.

Well the website doesn't exist anymore and the new website for these updates doesn't even list ferrari. So does anyone have the information I'm looking for? He said they stopped supporting these in 2020 but hell maps updated up to 2020 will work for me.

Perhaps we'll get lucky on this, worth a shot I guess....

I Had a Lancia Voyager and went through this with Navteq (now owned by HERE). Back then Navteq responded to me that they build the map updates, only on request of the manufacturer. Maps are also hard coded for each vehicle serial. So unless you convince Ferrari to pay Navteq, you won't have updates.

This being said from time to time they re-issue vintage parts, so why not gps updates? Maybe a new business for Maranello Classic.

Okay so what you're saying is that it doesn't matter if it's a Chrysler nav what matters is that Ferrari didn't buy updates so that's it....is that right?

I don't doubt you it sounds like you have experience with this but odd to think that an update for the same model nav wouldn't simply work. This type of stuff isn't my expertise by any means so just talking...

    Thank you for the info

My Lancia Voyager was made by Chrysler (in Quebec then exported to Europe with an Italian badge) , but it was only treated with a single update, whereas the Chrysler Town & Country (same car) did receive quite a few updates.

Chrysler even made a few software updates that I could install in my car, but for the data (maps), Lancia had to commission Navteq (which they did only once) . I was quite annoyed back then, As I would have expected such maps to fall under the 10years mandatory parts supply.

So you basically depend on the goodwill of the manufacturer of the car to ask (and pay) for a Navteq update regardless of who actually made the infotainment hardware and software.
