    Dear all,
I have been lurking here for a while and now that I am close to pulling the trigger on a California, I am trying to work out the most efficient way as a newbie to Ferrari to order my car. I have a few questions that I hope I can get help on:

    1) The car will be for my house on the Main Line in PA but have been told that I can basically order the car from any Ferrari dealer in the US. Is that correct?

    2) I am curious to know how long it will take from putting my deposit down to getting my car. I have heard that different dealers have different build slots. Any idea which dealer would have the most expedient order book?

    3) Factory delivery - Is this possible and how much of a PAI is it. Would love to pick up the car from Maranello and spend a few weeks driving thru Northern Italy.

    4) Can I order a California with a 6 speed manual in the US or is ti only available in Europe and rest of world?

    Many thanks in advance.

If you live near a Ferrari dealer you will have to buy from them unless they work something out with another dealer. I tried to purchase a California in January in California but because i live 20 miles from a Ferrari dealer they wouldn't sell to me. I am still waiting on delivery of an order placed in January.

As previously stated, you must purchase from a dealer in your region. You mentioned the house in Main Line. If you have a couple of different bona fide adresses, you can work that angle. Delivery is based upon when the allocation is. You ought to be able to take delivery within 6 months from order in Modis by the dealer. You may not take delivery in Maranello. That's too bad. I would have definitely done that for a few grand. I am suprised that Ferrari doesn't capitalize on it. It must be a big hassle for them. I have heard about 6 speeds being built. I suppose anything is possible for a cost (it will indeed cost you dearly!!!). I can understand your interest, but the Califonia allure is the progressive technology, which includes the DCT. BTW, the transmission is absolutely amazing.

I suggest the DCT too, even if i'm a fan of manual cars, manual cali is slower, uses more fuel and it's not that practical..

I purchased my California from Algar in Philly and feel you would have a hard time finding a better dealer to use. They have top mechanics and a first class organization.

    Good luck.

    Thanks Neil.
I plan to visit Algar very soon to discuss, they are a few miles down the road from me. Did you have to wait long for your California?

From the time I spec'd the car till delivery was about 6 months. You can pay extra to have it flown in but I don't know how much time it will save. I worked with Rick DiSimone at Algar but any of the staff will be very helpful.

I spoke to Algar and have an appointment to see them next week to discuss specs etc. They have said a built to spec cali would be about October delivery, maybe sooner. Will report back once I have met them to test drive the car and discuss build specs. Thanks for all the helpful advice.

I agree completely. You will have difficulty finding a better Ferrari dealer then Algar. I have purchased 3 ferrari's from them including most recently a new California delivered in March. They are a good group of people and have always taken care of me.
