Once again, in my quest for perfection, I need my fellow Dinophiles's help. My front batchboard does not have the knob on the little hatch that accesses the brake resevoirs. It also does not have the hangers for the windshield washer bag. I'd like some nice CLOSE UPS of those items. On the knob, from both sides if possible, so I can see how it works, and what it looks like. And on the hangers, from an angle that clearly shows how they attach and where they are positioned. Even better, if someone knows what the part is called, or where I might source them, that would be great. I know this is an imposition, so I'm offering up a bribe. YUP, a bribe. An official, licensed FERRARI COFFEE MUG from www.fchatstuff.com. Your choice of color, RED, YELLOW OR BLACK, to the first generous Dino guy or gal who can post me some really nice clear shots and/or a source and name for the parts. Ahh... got 'em. Thumb screws, metric, available at McMaster-Carr. Once I get the size down, I'll have it made. DM
Nah, Stock item at McMaster, couple bucks each, I'll get 3-4 stick 'em in inventory. Dave Image Unavailable, Please Login
Last I recall you were showing your car at Concours events, so please forgive me for being picky - that screw in the picture shows one with cross-hatched threads not ferruled splines. Does that matter to you? (factor in some of the judging you have seen...ouch!)
Scott, I go to two or three concour events a year. I've yet to consider the national FCA because of exactly this kind of pickyness.(If that's a word.) the judges have on a couple of occasions questioned larger items, but I haven't run into any screw psychos yet. But yes, they do appear to be slightly different, (I had not noticed) and I might just call Lee and see what he has. Dave
No, they do not have the thumbscrew, but will be happy to sell me the entire batchboard for $390, delivered. Also, while I'm *****ing about Rutlands, $51.70 EACH for wheel bolts???? Hill Engineering has them for about $16.00 each. Is it just me, or do many of these guys think we're just too lazy or stupid to price this stuff around? So, back to the drawing board. I'll keep looking, see if I can find an exact match, if not, I'm going with the McMaster part, $4.00. DM
Dave, Which McMaster part number did you find? The 6mm ones I found have a head diameter that's way too big. Thanks, Jim
Didn't. Gooing to check some other Metric sources and see what I come up with. Worst case scenario, I'm going to turn a couple at the machine shop. DM
Looks like I'm gonna have to fabricate these. I'll get 'em close, within a millimeter or two. I'll post pix in a week when i have a couple done. Dave
Batchboard screw is the same design as the instrument panel screw only the head is a little bigger on the batchboard screw.
Has anyone else seen the front batchboard wiper bag fluid hangers as a solid bar or just as two separate ears? Apologies on the age of the thread, I searched for pics and this is all I found. Image Unavailable, Please Login
Interesting I know my original bag is different that that the wiper hose has a hole in the batch board that the hose goes thru and the mounting for the bag is a little different also I believe mine to be original and I received my replacement from T Rutland's for 510 delivered. and it does not have the bracket or the wholes hopefully I will install it this week end. Mine was a high scoring car before I broke the batch board so I assume it is correct. 1972 GT Ebody LarryH
Scott, I have never seen a set up as you pictured; 2 separate hooks always I also am almost certain that your washer bag is not correct OEM. I have only ever seen the blue Foredit bag (labelled as such) with a yellow zinc plated metal band running along the top. If you need any detailed pics., don't hesitate to ask. To be clear I'm limiting my observations to the later cars which I know better. 246L and 206 may be different in some of these details. Best Regards, Paul
