Dear Stilo Design--if the owner does not choose the black collar option on the front hood I guess you intend to punish him by leaving an unsightly unnecessary crease and depressed area to remind him that he should have ordered the black collar

What next ? When an owner fails to order the fender shields send him the same fender without the sheild and the depression amd fixation holes.

here is a picture which captures my displeasure

And here is the front bonnet
of my 458 which is much more elegant without the stupid ugly crease.

( Of course this bonnet was designed by Pininfarina)

Do you think I can contact Tailor Made and see about ordering a front bonnet without this unsightly crease and depression. I doubt the crease and depression improve the aero performance.

Because that feature is stamped into the sheet metal/aluminum it's part of the process.
While anything is possible, I doubt they'd take a hood off the stamping line to 'delete' the feature. Guess it never hurts to ask. $$ can cure a lot of situations. ;)
FWIW, i ordered my car without the black feature.
If it bothers you that much, you could always add a black film or paint said area. It is what it is.
Aero performance? I don't think so.

No, its just a design touch.

A little colour sensitive, but I think these pics illustrate the effect:

    - with a black collar, the hood seems to sink down in the centre section, following the contours of the wing/scoop/wing heights

    - colour coded, the hood appears taller and looks to cover the wipers and windscreen surround, when it does no more/less than in black

You can add black film to match the original option and it will look factory?

I ordered my car without this option as well as I will be doing some aftermarket stuff to the hood so I wanted the option to not have it black. If it turns out that I do want it black I knew I had the option to do it with film under Xpel and you will not be able to tell its not factory.

And with a black one, also cabin “goes” front, and car seems more forwardcab, more mid engine and exotic.

There was reported the depression in the earlier prototypes of the Pista had an actual carbon piece there.

Ild bet that one of the aftermarket people take advantage of it and create a piece for that spot.

It not so easy to get a film placed there rather than have the Ferrari painted piece.

Looks better without the black to my eye. The crease is part of the mold so it is what it is. Still better than the black IMO.

Is there an option to get it in a shiny black?

I'm sure with enough $$ you could get in whatever color you'd like.:D

I was told in response to see if that area could be CF for my Pista that this area is kept matte black to reduce glare and reflections.
