Under the dash on the USA drivers side there is a black hooped emergency wire cable just above the left hand speaker. Pull it and the front bonnet will open.
The engine compartment lid has one too just behind the drivers seat about elbow level.
Most likeley the wire came loose on your regular front bonnet release. Pull the chrome ferrari emblemed handle up and i'll bet you see it disconnected. Let me know how it goes.

Just noticed you have a 512. The instructions were for a Testarossa. Still look for the emergency pull wire.

I started a thread about this some months ago...
Right now my TR is in the hands of a mecanics since I gave up on finding a way out of it.
I'll update my thread when I get the final word.

I will have to look a little closer tomorrow.
    Thanks Paul

I hope Ido not have to open the glove box.....I got my battery disconnected.....

Paul is nice to me because he knows why some people own many Ferraris but only keep the Boxer.

I found the cable and pulled it and I got the left side of the bonnet to open but the right side does not.
I also found it in the manual and it does not show another on the right side.

I pushed down closing the left side and pulled again harder and only the left side opens!

I am lost what to try next?

Thank you all for your help

Have you tried to pull on the cable while someone is pushing down very gently on the bonnet over the right latch?
It might just get pressure off the latch to open.

The left and right latches work off the same actuator on the left side of the car. It sounds like the right hand latch is rigged looser than the left and the emergency pull won't go that extra little bit to trip it.

The best case is to have one person on each side of the bonnet applying downward pressure on the aft corners while a third pulls the emergency loop firmly and as far as it will go.
Hopefully the RH latch will follow suit.

I recall that the Boxer has an emergency pull cable on the left AND the right side too.

Look for it up under the glovebox area to the far right up in the corner.

    Thank you guys

I finally realized after trying all this that it had to be a cable on the right side and all else did not work either.
I pressed down on the glove box door and pulled slightly and the glove box opened.....battery disconected no other way......and there it was inside the glove box another loop to pull and open the front right side.
With the battery conected glove box works great still .....and another lesson learned after two decades of ownership........do not disconect your battery and close your bonnet all the way, just lay it down gently with out closing....or hit the button and open your glove box before disconecting the battery......I guess the main handle has seen too much action through all these years starting the car every month.
Thank you all again for your help.

    Mario
