Hawk and Marelli brand front TR pads that I've installed are about 15mm total thickness. Bought some EBC Greenstuff pads in the past that had the right outside shape, but at ~18mm thick didn't fit -- even though their website indicated that they would. Did some subsequent research, and they seemed to be also used in a BMW application IIRC (so maybe the extra thickness is OK there). Are you having a fitment problem?
Those are too thick my man.. You'll never get them on... Get a set of Porterfeld RS4 pads.. They are snug to get on but once bedded they are gold... Just prep them properly with the shims and you'll have no issues with squeek.. R
Gents you have already worked out my problem without me saying so.... The pads are too thick to fit! Hmmmmmmm what to do? I think i need to buy some different ones that are thinner! Ho hummmmmm not such a cost saving then For Sale, one brand new set of Testarossa front brake pads - $800 these work just like an F1 car brakes, honest P
If you want some uprated pads without going as far as track pads (i.e. Pagid Blue etc) then Ferodo DS2500s are a good option. Try Camskill.
Iain, I'm missing you mate.... we need your help....... You are right about the Pagid ones except that the last "blues" I had only lasted about 3,000 miles and then left all the darkest carbon black on my sliver wheels P
From what I've read/been told, Pagid Blues are really for track use, too hard (and squealy) for the road. I put DS2500s on the front end of my car last year & they have been very good. A hint of a noise once in a while but otherwise very happy with them.
I bought some Mintex MDB1115AF (14.5mm thick) years ago to have in stock for when it's time to replace the fronts of my '87 TR. Anyone have experience with those???
