front bumper redo

one of my projects this summer is to fix the cracks in the front bumper of my 81. it looks like the cause is corrosion in the strut inserts. i bought a plastic bumper fill kit from napa. any hints on how to make the repair permanent? i will also have to sand and repaint the bumper. will standard primer and flexible bumper paint be enough? thanks, jon s

I'm too lazy to read the three pages of advice but I'll offer mine. Be sure to REALLY clean the bumper of an silicone dressing that might remain in cracks, etc. Otherwise, you'll never get a good final paint finish. And in that arena; Most any of the good black bumper paints sold at autoparts stores, will work just fine. -rick / Mondial QV / 308GTB
