Just bought a 98 355 had it shipped from Ca. The question is what do you do about a front plate for state car inspection. The vehicle lines are to good to put one.

they "shouldn't" say anything about the inspection but don't quote me on that. I haven't had a problem thus far. If there is, just take it to a dealership and you certrainly won't have a problem

I didn't have a problem with a private inspection, however, I do carry the plate in the trunk with four pieces of wire through the holes "Just In Case". I was stopped and ticketed once for not having a front plate but the guy was going to find something before he left, one way or the other. Otherwise the police seem to have better things to do, unless you have given them another reason to pull you over.

    Jeff,

NJ state law states you must have a front plate displayed at all times. Which means the car will not pass inspection without one.

As someone else suggested, take the car to a private inspection station where they will usually 'overlook' your lack of front plate.

    Jeff,

Just find a way to zip tie the front plate on till you pass inspection. Once you get the sticker, take the front plate right off in the inspection lot.

Have someone fab you a bracket with a bolt that fits the tow hook threads. Screw it in when you need it.

Before you go through inspection (private or state) just use some doublesided tape and throw it on the front bumper. After getting your sticker, just take it off. PLEASE don't get one of those ugly front plate brackets...if you want to follow the law, mount it normally to the front bumper.....

Cops shouldn't give you a problem about a front plate....
