What's working for you guys who have front license plate mounts on the 599….especially in California? Anyone figured out how to get an exemption? I've been pulled over twice in the past few months. I could not talk myself out of this fix-it ticket today.

I actually started with zip ties on the grill! Most people told me to get rid of them and keep the plate in the car. I've wondered lately, but there was a company that made padded clip on frames or tow hook screw in frames. They seem to be out of business so I'm just not sure. The glove box is too small, and the dash is sloped the wrong way, so I have it in a urethane edge guard and keep it between the center console and passenger seat.

I have one of the chairpilot brackets for my 612, but sadly he passed away a year or so ago.

It's fantastic-- on and off in a few seconds. In Portland, I only need it while parked, and then only in the city, so I leave it off the rest of the time.

It's a $10 ticket. A clean front end is worth the $10 to me, so none of my cars ever get front plates.

Ziptie the plate to the grill and take a picture with your phone. Cut off zipties and toss the plate back in the trunk. Print out the picture and mail it in with your check. Save the picture for any future violations and re-print as necessary.

Just call the issuing office and make sure they will reduce it to $10 to prevent any future correspondence.

I'm dealing with this now in Texas. I won't put it on the front but I've been pulled over before in an earlier Ferrari. I'm sure a lot of it is just the cop checking me out but that'll get old quickly. I've ask my cop friend if you can file for exemption or something. He's looking it up. It's a really dumb law but I understand. There's some new high speed license plate readers that come from the facial recognition software that are really impressive. It's caught many bad guys including that nut case in the church shooting in Charleston.

When I was moving to the Kansas City area, I actually decided to live in Kansas versus Missouri due to Kansas having no front plate. People think I am crazy when I tell that story but that, plus the public schools being much stronger, contributed to my final decision!

You are lucky in the US to have an opportunity to use a car without the front plate for a minimum fine or even without it. Here in Russia there is a 100$ equivalent fine and the court will leave you without license for 6 months 😔

I think with this new camera system, they'll start requiring it in all states soon.

Still looking for a system for 3 cars. The chairpilot system would have been perfect. No on else does it...

I have a brand new custom spring loaded bracket around here somewhere. I bought it but never opened it. Not sure where it is at the moment.

I'd buy it too. Since the Chairpilot solution is no longer made it'd be great if someone more mechanically minded than me would market something similar. Had one for my prior Ferrari that unfortunately I let go with the car. Worked great.

I like those but the clearance on the nose is so low anyway, I hate to lower it any more

I've never been really bothered in years for missing my front plate, but it is required and does pose a real fine in my state.

I've be all over that retractable plate if I had to be, but I can understand some of the concern under there.

That said, there must be remaining Chairpilot inventory-

    Has anyone checked?

That's a shame- I'm sure somewhere out there are some leftover on a shelf

I like the retractable plate idea- I'm not sure how they affect aerodynamics or ground clearance at driveway aprons etc., but the option is cheap enough to try & see how it works out

That retractable plate unit won't work on the 599. We were crawling around under the car and there's an entirely different air intake down there. I see no way you could even try and put one of those on even if you weren't worried about ground clearance.
