Here in Houston, Harris County, if they pull you over for speeding then they will give you a second ticket for no front plate. Adding insult to injury, Ron
I also got pulled over in Plano for no front plate.......I was following the cop on the tollway and they saw it in the rearview. Just a warning...
I haven't had one on any of my performance cars for 10 years now. Not the BMWer, C4S, TT, SL55, Cayenne T, 550 or 997 Cab S. And, I don't plan to start anytime soon. Front plates/brackets completely ruin the lines of a car. (I do keep the plates in the boot in case there is a problem during an inspection) But, to date...never been hassled. In fact, several weeks ago there were a several police, including a DPS officer, milling around where my 550 was parked. They all looked closely at the car but not one said "where's your plate, buddy". And even if they did care, its either a warning or a non moving violation--I'd guess at most a couple 100 if you're actually ticketed. By my calc, that's about 1 month's gasoline bill nowdays. Why mess up a beautiful car for a fool's rule?
I have a 308 and my concurn is mounting a plate on the front will it decrease the air flow across the radiator?? and increase the engine temp. Does anyone know if there is a grandfather clause for vehicles that do not have a space for a front plate???
My car was inspected a week ago with no front plate...no prob. I'm heading out to the Boardwalk show in Plano in a few minutes, knock on wood.
