Yesterday when I turned on the front light on my 355, only the left one poped up. Question 1: Is it common that one of the lifting motors breakdown after some years of use? Question 2: Or could it just be a sudden disconnection between the leads? Thanx Image Unavailable, Please Login
Probably a bad connection... those motors are pretty robust. I am not sure if each side has a separate fuse but I would look to find out...
each side has a separate fuse... check that first if it is in the same location as my 348 (under the front hood) it is the 2 7.5v fuses in slots 3 and 4
Ditto, I blew a fuse recently for my right headlight motor, on a cold and dark night. I think the grease in that motor is getting stiff or something. Fuses for them are in the front trunk, left side, under the cover. Careful with all the knobs on the various covers, it is easy to drop them behind something.
There is a diagram (at least there is supposed to be a diagram) on the underside of the fuse panel cover in the front trunk, which shows the function of the individual fuses and relays. If your right headlight motor isn't working, check the fuse marked "Alzafaro DX" or "R.H. Headlight Motor". You should be able to manually raise the headlight door using the knob on the top of the motor. If the headlight will NOT raise using that method, then the linkage between the motor and the door itself has come loose. Sometimes the motor is turning correctly, but the linkage isn't moving. It's quite unlikely that the motor itself is at fault, but it's possible. Note: If you go to manually raise the headlight using the knob, be VERY careful that you don't get your fingers caught. Once the headlight reaches a certain point, the motor will kick in, and the motor is quite powerful. It's best to remove the fuse if you are manually raising the headlight. If the motor turns but the headlight door won't open, check nut #14 in your diagram to make sure it's tight.
