Obviously the items are there for comparison with the current crop of what is being produced. You want something that is near the top in performance, apearance, etc. The specifics of how it is built, etc., are meaningless. What is important is how it works, how it appears, and how reliable it is. I remember when I first started watching F1. The formula had changed from 1.5 liters to 3.0. Brabram had decided to use a single cam engine, while everyone else had pretty exotic stuff. Brabram used a Buick block, and won the series. His stuff wasn't even close technically, but they won more than their share of the races. Performance counts, and I'm not concerned about how they get it, as long as they do. Art
Boxer peeples too. Seriously; Ferrari needs to stick to Mid-engined 12's. Cost difference for a factory is peanuts compared to brand cache of 12's. People think of Ferrari ( or used to ) and assume 12 cylinders. Make them with variable cylinder activation and variable valve actuation to get the responsible MPG #'s in todays world and still scream at 9.000 rpms for those "irresponsible" moments. My injected 308 got 12 mpg. Gives real meaning to SUCKS.
As far as transmission; the dual clutch Porsche PDK, VW, Bugatti, Nissan GTR et al is the way of the future. Thats OK. Just put in a gated stick and pedal for us Luddites and make EVERYONE happy. DO IT !
