    Okay....another novice question.....

Does anyone here in Colorado have a front license plate on their Ferrari's?

Has anyone been given a ticket for that violation?

If you get stopped, what do you tell the officer?

Right now, i do not see where to mount a front plate on a 355....there does not seem to be a factory designated mounting location. I do not want to drill into the front valence.

    Thanks
    Mark

    Pffffffft.

I haven't had a front plate on my car in 6 years. Houston has the same law, I am still driving without one and haven't had an issue (knock wood).

If you get stopped you say "What do you mean there is no front plate on the car? Darn neighborhood kids.

Cars look dumb with front plates, especially Ferraris.

If you have not done so already, do a thread search on "license plate" and you should find a wealth of info. It's been hotly discussed a number of times. The answer varies by state and mindset. - Tim

Houston now uses it as the ONLY basis on which to pull you from traffic, check all other credentials and give you a ticket!

Have fun, you are on borrowed time, bro!

In the car, behind the seat, will not be adequate. Nor will in the trunk. The legal launguage is "displayed, front and rear".....Now I've been running them on the dashboard loose with no problem but the reflected glare isn't too cool, IMO.

It's actually a nationwide crack down, associated with photoradar tickets, etc.....that's reason it's generated chatter on here!

They sat outside a car show, up by Austin, and wrote over two hundred citations in one afternoon, to all participants!

I don't doubt that. Can't you keep it handy and throw it up on the dash if you see five-o?

Yea, but on a launch this flat sharp plate of metal comes flying at my throat as the front tires lift off the ground.....LOL!

I have to catch it mid air and grab second all at the same time, steering with my...well, you know.......

It was my 2005 resoultion to mount about four of them. It's just not worth the hassle.

I have driven Ferraris in Colorado for 9+ years and 50K+ miles and never been stopped for no plate. I have been pulled over for other things and no cop has ever made a peep about missing front plate. I have heard of others being stopped though. On 348's or 355's you can use insulated wire to attach one to the grill (which is fake anyway) and avoid drilling that way.

My understanding is that usually you get a "fix it or else" ticket in Colorado, meaning that you must either pay the ticket for having no plate, or affix the plate and have the car reinspected, in which case they toss the ticket. I have never had front plate on my 308GTB, or my Boxer, or any of 6 or 7 other cars I have that simply have no provision for mounting a front plate. I've only been pulled over once for a missing front plate, and the policeman simply said that I should put it on or he'd give me a ticket "next time". There was no next time, but I never put the plate on either. I think most cops are pretty understanding if they can see that there is simply no way to mount a plate. A surprisingly high percentage of cops are car guys, and they are usually pretty reasonable if you tell the truth. Except for that bastard in Douglas Wyoming.

I've had plenty of no front plate tickets. All, however, were issued by parking police. I've seen a write-up where a guy glued magnets to the inside of his bumper. When he parked the car, he would attached the plate. It seems like a good solution if one ever gets to that point of care.

My wife is a deputy sheriff and my father-in-law is a bureau chief and I was told by both that it is against the law in Colorado to not have a visible front plate. My father-in-law suggested that the plate be put in the front windshield, it's still visible. I'll have my wife look up the statute and exact wording. I still drive without a plate on the front bumper of my Beemer 6 and my H1 (and I don't plan on putting one on my Murcie), and my wife doesn't have one on her Navigator.

I know there's been a lot of chat here regarding not having a front plate.

Years ago I got pulled over and received a warning for no front plate on my 67' Porsche -- ok, irritating.

Today at a PAID City of Boulder parking meter my 328 had a parking ticket left under its windshield wiper. "Improper Display Plate"
Fortunatly it also read *WARNING ONLY* -- I feel like a criminal.

I got a parking ticket for no front plate while parked in Boulder. I think it cost me $18.

I was pulled over once (outside of Pueblo) for having no front plate. The policeman said "I pulled you over because you don't have a front license plate." I replied, "I can't really argue with you over that, can I." He ran my information through the computer, gave me his card (but no ticket) and told me to have a nice day.

I've not ever been hassled for my missing front plate. I will just continue to pay whatever fines may come rather than install an ugly front plate bracket on my car.
