Hello all, I am new to this forum as I have only recently purchased a 360 spider ( 2004 ) with 11,000 miles on the clock. This is my first Ferrari and it is awesome !!! As the roads aren't great where I live i have developed a rattle on the passenger side front suspension. It is loud and can be heard when going over small potholes etc. Can anyone tell me what it is likely to be ? Thanks, Fusion.
Could be anything related to the suspension. Lose nut on the shock, coil is broken, tie-rod is loose, anything. Get it checked out asap. I had a rear coil break on me on my M3 and only knew it because I went over a speed bump and heard it clang. Then put it up on my stands, pulled the rear wheel and the damn coil just fell right out..... Hunter
Sounds like it. If they do need replacing, go for the Hill Engineering replacements, they should never fail again.
Thanks lads. I'll take her to the mate's garage and put her on the ramp to see what the problem is. Thanks Derek for link for balljoint supplier. I'll keep you posted once we've checked it out. Regards, Fusion.
Could be one of the following: Anti roll bar end link rubber bushings A arm bushings Ball joints Damper bushings
My 360 also suffered from front suspension rattles and creaks. There was a campaign to replace some of the bolts with teflon coated ones. I had this done and the creaks went away for a few weeks, but then came back! No one who looked at the car was ever able to identify a problem. Eventually after 40K miles, the sounds just went away by themselves. Now I have noticed squeeking noises from the rear suspension!
I had the entire suspension on my '99 360 rebuilt - top and bottom ball joints, track rod ends and inners - guess what - still rattled!
DT gets first prize ! Put the car up on the ramp and it shows wear to the bottom balljoint. Ordered one from hill engineering. Thanks again for all your input Fusion.
