Hi guys I noticed when I picked up my F8 last month there was a clicking noise from what sounded to be coming from the front left wheel when I slowed down to nearly 0 mph and happens again when I begin to accelerate around 2-4 mph. I took it to the dealer today just to have a look and road test it and he said its totally normal and whats happening is the front trunk is latching closed to prevent any accidental issues of the front lid coming off in an accident or high speeds. Is that accurate does it sound right?

Put a jack under the car and rotate the wheel. Also checkvall the wheel bots for tightness.

Is it only one click when you hit those speeds, or is it a rhythmic click dependent on speed?

Maybe the brake pad shifting? I doubt it, but can't really think of anything else that would do that.
I would also start with what Pilota said, try rotating the wheel in the air to listen for noises, and definitely check the wheel torque!

Jack the car up at the effected wheel, see if the disc moves by hand in both directions- when you reverse the disc direction does the brake pad make a clunking sound. Check the 2 pins through the pads are fully in place, as is the spring plate ( i assume it is similar to a 430)

Recently on my 430 i had a wheel off and noticed the disc was harder than expected to turn, the pads were dragging on the ccm disc, on stripping the calipers 3 out of 6 moved by 7 bar air pressure, the rest were seized and needed removing hydraulically.
The pistons are aluminum with a chrome plating which had corroded and jammed the pistons on the dust seals. Had to fit a stainless piston set as over 50% corroded and useless.

Might be the frunk lock actuator. I have the same thing

Does it sound like it's from the front, or back?

Have you stood outside and verified the location of the sound?

I know of a few things.

There is a click like sound from the rear when starting and stopping which is the rear diff. It is hard to locate and could seem like it was from the front.

When turning, there are also noises and motions associated with the anti-ackerman geometry.

    Yes. They originally swapped left
Disc with right and said noise moved.
    So Ferrari approved replace discs.
Did that and noise still there. As not brake related they said I could take it back.
Want to drive it for few weeks before selling it

Just took delivery of my F8 a few weeks ago and mine has that single click when coming to a stop. I’m beginning to think it’s normal but annoying.

If you are hearing a single click/thump sound when stopping and the starting again. Chances are that it is the frunk lock actuator. This is different than the repeating clicking sound that some are experiencing here.

i have a 488 and hear the same thing. latch theory makes sense but seems crazy the way it was engineered to do that.

The trunk actuator makes sense, it does sound like a solenoid type of noise. Most noticeable if crawling along like in stop and go traffic and crossing above/below the 1mph or whatever speed threshold to click on/off. It’s speed sensitive, and not affected by brake input.

After some usage, most newer Ferraris have a ticking noise when you start moving and when you stop to zero afterwards. My dealer said it comes from the half axis.

I have the same thing. Talked to the head of service at my local dealership just yesterday. Apparently all F8s and SF90s have the same issue and it’s from that frunk antilock system. Totally normal and ok, nothing wrong. It is annoying but now that I hear this (and I trust the guy because I’ve known him for years and he told me immediately without hesitation, no BS answer), I’m going to try and get used to it.
