Tie down is now over $300. http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=320119589495 While the seller is reputable, I'm not sure I agree the collar is correct.
I've seen these with longer and shorter bolts. the handles always look the same, but I can't vouch for the disk. But Tom S. is THE TOOL GUY, and would not, I'm sure, sell something he's not confident in. Dave M
Ended at $355 Here is one that looks like the repros that Daniel/Ricambi is selling for under $200 yet is well above that on eBay http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=150127226648
It is an absolute reproduction. The telltale mark is the black section on the threads where Hill Engineering ties them with a wire before dipping into the anodize. I spoke with Paul Hill about that very auction this morning. We both chuckled. http://www.ricambiamerica.com/product_info.php?products_id=262008
I bought the one on sale from Sweden for $225. I liked the finnish (pun!) on it better than the ricambi piece, and it wasn't crazy overpriced like the other at $355. Not everyone knows all the sources you folks do, that's for sure!
The piece you bought in Sweden is made by Hill Engineering - same as the ones we carry. I might not have been clear in my earlier email, so please accept my apologies. No worries -- just having them at any price is a big improvement over the market from a few years ago! -d
Are you serious?? Guy had it in garage for 10 years along with the 275 parts and DINO MANUALS I bought from him. Guess there is no reason to contact or do business you folks. Got lot more time and experience (and Fu%^&*ng parts in stock)under my belt. Shaughnessy baseball ONE STRIKE AND YOU ARE OUT
Tom, the way i read the post from jack russell racing was that he was referring to the other tie down bolt on ebay, mentioned in synchros post just prior, not the one you sold.
Tom, I sincerely apologize if my post was poorly worded or incomplete in it's description. I was not referring to anything you sold nor would I ever question either your integrity or the provenance of items you sell. I'm referring to the one which just closed on eBay, and posted by Syncho. The item that I was referring to is this one: http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=150127226648
thread was on the item I was selling, and no reference or quote of the item you were talking about. An outsider could view I was selling fake items after I twice told a ebay member it was original apology accepted
Thomas, Apologies on the confusion, I diverted the thread from yours by introducing a second auction. Let me clarify by adding wording to make this more clear. Mea culpa
The seller toldme he fabricated the tie down I bought himself for his Dino and a some other owners wanted them, so he made more. He thinks the others are "shocking". He backed it up with a 14-day (from receipt) money back guarantee, and says no one could tell the difference between this piece and a used original. We'll see!
The seller knows the old eBay trick, return postage and tracking fees will be prohibitively expensive (...and you need to have signature tracking when returning items). The bottom line is that it is a Hill Engineering product, it is very nice, and you paid near market price for it.
Though it does look a bit different. No worries -- if it looks improper, I have exceptionally low shipping costs on small items to the UK (a pal goes to London almost every week, though the tie down might get an interesting reaction from the airport scanner!) Anyhow, if it holds the tire down and looks good, mission accomplished -- Hey, how about drilling out the center of a Dino or Campagnolo repro wheel hub cover and using that in place of the washer? Too gross?
