Hi all, Need some suggestions on the positioning of the fuel line clips/spacers on the K/KE steel lines.(WSM /Tav11/49-50-51) specifically #50 @11 being the 3 line spacer clip. Where does the odd one fit or is it a red herring (how do you say that in Italian?) Didn't bother with images of their position on dissembly as most were snapped and stuffed. I have just completed the fuel lines and curious whether the odd #11 is for joining lines for the dual assembly(??) Any insights at all from fellow travellers? Cheers Pete K
Hi, not sure I got the right idea of what you`re asking - but do you mean part number 50 on table 11 of the WSM - the "3 space" clip that keeps 3 fuel lines positioned ? On my car it`s positioned on the lines roughly in the region of the cold start injector area - ie. with 3 injectors either side of it - hence the 3 spaces for the 3 lines. On the manual it looks like the 3 lines have a gap between the top two lines and the bottom one but on my car they all sit equally spaced, so maybe it`s just to make the illustration clearer. Like I say not sure if I got the right idea of what you mean - but by the routing of the hard lines I think if you hold up the clips there`s only so many places the right size clips will correspond to the right number of lines.... Soz in advance if you mean something else or if you need me to try and explain better. I can`t guarantee my car is the norm - obviously it`s had a few engine out`s over the years, but I don`t think the fuel lines had ever been touched looking at the state of them lol. Like yours some of my original clips broke when taking it appart to refurbish. btw, my Auntie lives in Perth! - in Mindarie (if I spelt that right). Visited them once - WA is an amazing place to live! Dom.
Dom, yes you are correct on 2 counts-1 being clarity and 2 being the TAV#11. The quantity of item #50 (being the 3 pipe clip) states 11 items, and that would leave an odd one outstanding after both L&R banks are equally placed and spaced. I am curious whether it is a typo on the quantity, or there is some arcane position where the odd man out gets placed. BTW I was born in East Riding, but recall little of the place (a long time back)and yes WA is dramatically different to the UK. Thanks for the response
Check with Mercedes. On the 92 500 sl they use the same style clamps. I have ordered them through the dealers before. Not sure if they are still available now however. Last set I got was from ricambi.

Howie, Thanks for the heads up. Did you buy 11 of the 3 pipe spacers when you replaced your old ones?

Ah I see exactly what you mean now! Yes I can account for 10 of the clips (5 each side) but not sure where the 11th goes. 1 of them roughly in line with the cold start injector. 2 on each side of the plastic lines from the fuel distributor (ie. 4 total at the distributor). Will have a look at old photos and a better look at engine bay to see if I can see where the mystery one goes! Yes, I think I would forget the UK the second I got on the plane if I went to live in OZ - although some things are imprinted in your brain - like have to have porridge in May to keep warm! Dom
