    Hello.
I have joined this site a while back but started posting only recently. My thanks to all members who have shared their knowledge about the 400 series. Indeed, I have recently aquired a 1981 400i (automatic) that needs quite a bit of work and the information/tips I found here have been helpful.
Currently working on the distributors. Could anyone please help with the part number (or cross reference) for the o-ring in the pic?
    Thanks again,
    Alex

    Thanks!
I'm well aware of rebuilding kits. However, I just need that o-ring. I'm pretty sure those used on any 6/8 cylinders K-J distributors will fit. I'll update once I find out.

As said I've used some green o-ring in my warmup regulator and they hold just fine, so no point in buying the whole kit, but the kit itself is not overly expensive and the distributor will thank you. Another solution would be to get in touch with "Mr Kjet" on ebay. He could be willing to sell the o-ring alone.

I should have noted earlier that I'm new to this car, not to cars in general. In fact, I'm quite familiar with the K-jetronic system and have rebuilt a few distributors in the past. There is nothing "Ferrari-specific" when it comes to certain parts for the distributor (e.g. o-rings, sealing washers). Furthermore, different six-cylinder distributors of that time share the same physical size.
Personally, I would never buy a rebuilding kit just to get a $3 o-ring. Also, I'm aware that the green type would work just fine. However, not being able to find one locally, and therefore having to order one online, I was looking for a part # just to make sure I'd be getting the right size - hence my original post.

And here is the answer (in case it can be of help to someone): the o-ring at the base of "our" distributor is the same o-ring used on six cylinders Mercedes, BMW, Porsche... The part # is (respectively) 0049970648, 13511271315, 91111093200. Obviously, there are plenty of sources for the Porsche's, thus it's easier (and the cheapest) to find. Dimensions are: 32,5mm (OD), 29.5mm (ID), 1.5mm thick.

On a final note, some rebuilding kits, across all marques, include the wrong o-ring (smaller size) for this particular application.
