i've to replace the fuel filter in my '80 308 carb. I read all the posts related and i suppose it's a kind of yoke. Two questions : - the black cap unscrews normally clockwise ?? - the central screw ( 3 ) remove the filter but what is the function of the others two?? ( see picture) thanks Flavio Image Unavailable, Please Login
Don't touch 1 & 2. Just 3. Drain fuel from the fuel tank lower crossover pipe first, or you will get soaked in gasoline, and always use new copper crush washers.
Thanks Wildcat , but: - unscrewing clockwise ? - i will not touch the other two....... But what's the function?
I'm guessing it has to do with air bleeding and/or pressure relief. Unscrew #2 just as you would a normal bolt head. You'll find that it's a long skinny bolt that runs down through the entire filter and threads into the end of the black housing. Sometimes the rubber gasket gets stuck in the filter housing lid; don't forget to pull it out and replace (new one comes with the filter).#2 actually looks like one of the carb adjustment screws, so possibly adjusting/metering flow?
No problem. Also, no matter what you do, the filter housing will be full of gas, so have a container ready underneath it, and put out your cigarette first
