    HI all,

Just spent a few hours doing the oil and filter change on my '88 328. No, it didn't take that long but I removed the L wheel and wheel well liner planning on removing the fuel filter. Once visible I spent most of my time cleaning everything that I could see. Then it was time to change the fuel filter. From what I can see, no way to do this from the L wheel well or at least no advantage to. Looks like it comes out the top or the bottom. By the time I figured that out it was too muddy under the car for me to go that route.

Just to make sure, is there a better way?

    Thanks,

    Lester

IF the 328 is like the 308 you COULD in theory get to it from above but it would be a real beyotch.

Go from below. Thru the wheel well and also from directly underneath (car on jack stands).

REMOVE the threaded joint on the old filter. The new one MAY NOT have it and you may have to reuse.

IF you have the plastic line that runs from the accumulator to the filter, NOW is the time to replace it (the plastic part; reuse the ends).

You will get some leakage so its a job best done outside and with relatively empty fuel tanks.

Suggest also pulling the connector on top of the CIS unit and switching the ignition on when you are done to test the thing for leaks. That will start the fuel pump & send fuel through the filter & around the circuit.
