I have replaced my fuel line from the electric pump to the fuel rail at the carburators. I cannot get the fitting at the carb end to stop dripping fuel. It is as tight as I can get the fitting and still leaks. Would some pipe tape be suggested at that area, or any other advise would be appreciated.

250GT, no washers or gaskets that I can see.

Is it a banjo fitting? If so needs 2 copper o rings, one each side

Its a threaded fitting that comes from the rear electric pump and attaches to the front of the fuel rail at the carburators. There is also a hose from the mechanical pump in the front that has the Banjo fittings on it. This pipe just seems to thread onto the rail, but it screws all the way on and is leaking by the threads apparently.

    Glassman,

I have had some experience with stuborn leaks in this area. Maybe I could help, but it's not clear to me as to where this leak is. Is it where the rigid tube that comes from the electric pump meets the yellow hose?

If there is a leak at this fitting, examine the sealing surfaces of the fitting and the fuel rail for damage or corrosion. Clean off any corrosion with a Scotchbrite pad. If there is no damage, you can take some fine valve grinding compound and put a little bit on just the sealing surface. Tighten the fitting down to where it will still rotate. Then rotate the fitting, until the two sealing surfaces are matched. When you are done, be sure to clean off all the grinding compound.
If the fitting still leaks, then I use some anaerobic gasket sealer on just the sealing surfaces, not the threads. I use Loctite Plastic Gasket, unfortunately this is not sold in the USA, so the next best choice is Loctite 510.

    Hi there,

I'm having the same fuel leak issues on my 85 308 QV which the brass hex bolt that fits into the fuel pump is leaking. I've tighten the bolt without damaging the fitting and it sill leaks. I will attempt to pinch off the fuel lines and undo the brass fitting from the fuel pump. I do believe the 12mm brass washers are probably worn to the point that it will not stop the flow from leaking. Getting to the fuel pump under the driver's side near the fuel tank and replace the 12mm washers will be a big pain. I'm hoping that this will fix the issue.

Yes but my leak is on the other end of the yellow hose where it attaches to the rigid rail that feeds the carburators. As you know the Mechanical pump feeds from the front, and the electric pump feeds from the rear of the engine. My leak is at the rear hose fitting going onto the fuel rail.

Often, the leak is not from the union, but it's from where the the yellow hose meets its end fitting. Look carfully to see where exactly the drip is coming from. Let us know if this is the case and we can talk about the fix.

I have had excellent success in these settings with Loctite 545, but it doesn't seem to be available at most of the FLAPS. Looks like thick raspberry syrup. steve
