    I just got a new car, 1972 BMW 2002tii.

I'm not used to fuel injection.

I think I have heard FI requires higher pressures and special hoses and clamps.

This car has a hose from the fire wall to the intake mechanism, about 30 inches long.

It appears to be regular back rubber and ordinary hose clamps.

IT HAS A CRACK IN IT.

Not wanting to emulate a Ferrari in a dramatic display of self-flambé, I want to get proper hoses and clamps.

So, is this something that has to come from BMW or can I get appropriate stuff at local Auto Zone?

    Thanks

Any idea what the system pressure is? Most fuel hose is rated for 60 psi. Use fuel line clamps and you should be fine. All is available at your local auto parts retailer.

Auto Zone, et al should have a high pressure rubber fuel line for you --- cut to length in various diameters to match your application. The pinch / crimp style hose clamps are the safest way to go.

the tii has a unique mechanical fuel injection, try Pelican auto parts, they stock just about everything you'll need for the German marks. Metric hose can be a real pita to source and sae doesn't fit right, they have it.

here's some resources if you don't already know of them,

Fun little cars, I've owned over a dozen BMW's from the 70's though they were the 5series, passed up a chance to get a 1600 20 odd yrs ago for........... $300!

As a long time (40 years) BMW injected-motor owner (I've owned many) and shade tree mechanic on them all, I advise you to go to the local BMW dealer and buy BMW-branded fuel line. It's good stuff - I re-plumbed my 308/GT4 with it 25 years ago and it still looks good, although I am replacing it all now during a motor-out. It used to be available over the counter, in metric sizes, by the foot, cut to length off a big roll.

Nice car - I just sold a round-taillight 2002 with twin dual sidedraft Webers. That mechanical FI unit on the Tii looks like a bear to work on.
