I checked the "348 parts sourcing, interchange" thread before ordering. It stated in the thread "Ferrari part number 147281 (Bosch #0 280 160 731 available for $138 at ....)" Now I just received the regulators and they are that part number but are marked with 3.0Bar, my old regulators are 3.8Bar and a different part number. "Yes" I know I should have checked first, LOL. So are these new (Bosch #0 280 160 731) compatible with a 91 348?

I just did a bit more research and found both Bosch 0280160715 and Bosch 0280160731 listed for different years. Any one have some insight as to why the different pressure setting?

    Thanks,

    Mike

I suspect you purchased 137960, which additionally has the wrong fittings from what you probably expected to receive.

I just referenced through your site. Yes, I think I might have. Why do they list two different regulators for the same years?

In US cars, engines prior to 25013 use the 137960 while engines 25013-onward use the 147281.

Mike did you have a hot start problem? I just bought a 90 348 and when the engine warms up and you turn the car off, then restart within a few seconds it starts like a champ but if you wait 10 minutes it stumbles and sputters then fires off smooth. I suspected the fuel pressure reg was draining back fuel into the tank as the gas expands with the heat of the engine after its turned off. I was surprised to see two of everything, seems like a waste to me. Almost every EFI engine out there uses one single pressure reg and one pump.

Sometimes the warm start problem is a check valve on the fuel pump. It is a classic problem on Cis with Porsche 911's. The pressure Regulator on the fuel rail just controls the upper limit and returns the excess to the tank. Rather than throwing parts at a symptom, a fuel pressure gauge is cheap and will allow you to better understand the system. Hard re-start on one of my cars was a bad coil......FWIW.

You know Jeff that was my fist thought but I haven't found a shrader valve (like GM and Ford have) yet so I will have to make some T fitting to to tap into the lines on each side. Been busy with work, perhaps this weekend. Thanks

We have an adjustable fuel pressure regulator on the race car with AN fittings that works great. I am tempted to change my SS to that config. It probably costs the same as just replacing the stock unit. I thought I read that the interchangeable part was used on Mercedes, Lancia and Alfa cars among others.

As a way of getting a bit more flow, high fuel pressure is better than replacement injectors to a point. Aw shucks, there I go again trying to figure out how to get more out these whoosey engines...

No, the problem is the car will die at lights intermittently. I have checked the fuel pressure and electrical connections. I am betting its the fuel pressure regulators or idle control valves due to the fact everything else is new as of last year. I am also replacing the regulators as a "While their in there" fix when the car goes to Miller Motorcars for new fuel lines under campaign 470. Other than the stop light problem she runs 100% as expected.

    Thanks,

    Mike
