When my 82 gtsi is first started, it doesn;t seem to be hitting on all 8. After a few seconds you can hear the last cylinder kick in. It then will run silky smoothe. I would then drive for about half hour or so.
After I turn it off for about 10 minutes or so, It's a little finicky to restart. Almost sounds like it ran out of fuel and is trying to start. It will start every time but at low idle.
It then will pop back up to normal.
    It seems fuel related....Suggestions anyone??

I have no idea what is going on with your car, but here's what happened with my '83 308: After sitting for a day or so, it would start up immediately and drive fine, but after parking for 20 minutes to an hour or so, it wouldn't start up right away. I would sit in the car trying to get it started for about 10 minutes. I knew it would eventually start up, but this was my routine for a long time. A few months ago, I read a Car and Driver letter to the editor about Ethanol gas causing a breakdown in the structure of fuel lines in some non-FFV's. Before reading this article, I started using Shell exclusively (because they sponsor Ferrari), but now I stopped going to the Shell station near my house because they added 10% ethanol to all grades. I happened to switch to Chevron only because it contained no ethanol in their fuel. Well, after switching gas stations to 100% gasoline, I have never had that non-starting problem since. It starts immediately everytime, so I'm guessing in my case, the 10% ethanol was inhibiting a quick start. Perhaps you're using 10% (or more) ethanol in your fuel as well? Maybe your car is experiencing the same situation, but I don't know.

Good theory, It is possible that I have a bad tank of gas. the problem coincided with my last fill up.....
One person I spoke with thinks it's the fuel pressure switch. Any other ideas?????

If you really feel it's fuel related, spend $100 for a fuel pressure gauge and monitor the pressure into the fuel distributer. A dozen items are involved, fuel pump, valve , accumulator, and the whole cold start system, including warm up regulator, thermo-time switch, cold start injector, coolant tank thermostatic switch. Left out a few and can't remember the proper name of the reverse valve at the fuel pump.

There are as many posts on this subject and warm start issues as there are owners in the forum. Try a search on 'Bosch CSI' for starters.

Re: 10+% ethanol...that's all you can get in Oregon in the 6 cold months.
