fwiw, I JB welded the intake manifold of my Jeep ~3 years ago and it's still good as new. Hasn't broken down or distorted at all from being exposed to fuel. It's a carbed, 4.2L L6.

I had a rebuilt engine put in a few years ago and the mechanic must have overtightened one of the bolts holding the runners on. So, a month or so later a quarter size piece broke off right where the manifold meets the head. JB weld, some file and sandpaper work, and it's sealed fine ever since. It's 3/4" from the header... you'd think with all the heat cycling, especially in the cold of winter, that it would break down but I had it off a month ago when I spun a rod bearing and it really is good as the day I put it on. Go figure.

Thank you. I considered JB-Weld. It's a great product for many purposes but the fine print says water PROOF and fuel RESISTANT. Not good enough and too difficult to remove if I need to disassemble. I ordered two different types of sealant this morning on other F-chatters' advice and I'm going to experiment with those 2. I may use both since one is an assembly paste and the other is a type of caulk that can be scrapped away for disassembly. Both should be fuel proof.

    I'll post my results!
