I am in search of the proper part # for the fuel pump check valve on my 1980 400i...I don't have the car up in the air,so I cannot tell you the fuel pump model #..are the check valves model specific, or are they a universal # throughout the pump model/type range? Looks can be decieving... I have posted in " technical " also..Any and all responses will be greatly welcommed..Thank you all in advance so very much...Jacques

The check valve is built into the pump, it cannot be serviced, replaced, or lost :) . Bosch refers to these as "female fitting with internal check valve", and as I can see the '975 pump is unique in that it has the 15mm intake and the long nose that holds the check valve. These are just about impossible to find, so the typical replacement is to use a standard pump with external check valve and then use a 12x1.5mm acorn nut to replace the banjo bolt that goes with the '975 pump. See the short list of relevant pumps attached--Lee

Oh, one more thing; the 12x1.5mm acorns are hard to find, until you look near motorcyle shops (search for "cap nuts" for Honda or Harley, often big steel chrome things....These will do the trick if you swap gas pumps)--Lee

Thank you so very much for your pump data...I just happen to have a brand new in-the-box "975" pump that I bought a year or so back..Well, when I had the car up in the air to replace the pump, of course the plumbing was different, so I did not change it out,,between your post and Steve's, I can accumulate the proper fittings..thank you very much again..Jacques.

I have made a couple of m12 * 1,5 dome nuts and put the on my site. With these nuts you can fit the (cheap remake) fuel pump with an outside check valve.

Thank you all so very much for the prompt responses..I also just dicovered an additional electrcal nuance..On the relay board is a white plastic 4-way electrical connector with for over-size spade recepticals..the come totegether in the form of an "H"..one of the junctions is burnt and very loose..when I wiggle it, and tighten it, the car starts right up..I went to West Marine store and got 60 amp circuit breaker that I am going to install early some morning as the temperature here on the Florida Sun Coast is 90 deg. by noon..I (we) can only hope that this simple fix cures the problem.. it just seems inane as to Ferrari's electrical logic...(oxy-moron) approach..gimme my old Jag / Lucas anytime..thanks again..Jacques.
