Well I finally got a left fuel pump for the 430. Nothing wrong with the pump but it was leaking at the top. So can I buy just the top plastic cap? This piece. Or perhaps someone has a bad pump and they could use my motor.

Technically the top IS part of the pump. Fuel return is regulated in the plastic. The real question is why a comparable pump from a 3.6 liter car hasn't been sourced.

The answer is no... You have to purchase a new pump.. I agree why hasnt anyone come up with an aftermarket/ better solution that having a plastic topped fuel pump with the hot engine... I replaced both of mine in my 430 within a 6 month period.

3x... entire assembly has to be replaced.

    Dumbazz design IMO.

Basically there are two hoses going to the top plastic piece. They are thermally fused to the housing. You also have the electrical lines from the top running to the pump/level sensor. The rub is I don't know the return fuel pressure specs of the different units to even try "transplanting" a plastic top. It sounds really easy, undo the top, clip the fuel lines from the old pump, put on the new, clamp and you're good to go. Unfortunately, I'm not sure what bosch pump is truly equivalent. For example, Volvo cars and porsche boxster pumps seem "similar". To what extent these $100 parts could be adapted is beyond me.
